you the 2017 Kidney Gala. Formerly known as the “Shine a Light Kidney Gala”, we are proud of the new design and concept around the 2017 Kidney Gala. This is my second year volunteering at this event and I invite you to be a part of this epic event!

This annual event brings together leaders in the kidney community, nephrologists, people from business and philanthropic communities, political

dignitaries, and our tenacious kidney patients. The Kidney Gala has developed through joint effort between

The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC & Yukon Branch and the Canadian Society of Nephrology to directly

help the lives of people suffering from kidney disease. Funds raised at the Kidney Gala support world-class research, Patient Services & Public Education and Saving Lives Through Organ Donation campaign.

A highlight of this annual event is the Wine & Spirits Wall. Guests have the opportunity to purchase a randomly numbered cork that matches a specific bottle of wine or specialty spirit. The purchaser does not know what bottle is theirs until the match is revealed! The positive impact this event has on kidney patients would not be possible without our generous donors. GALA FUNDRAISER

Join us on Thursday, March 9, 2017 (World Kidney Day) at the

Fairmont Hotel Vancouver to celebrate the 5th Annual Kidney

Gala. Last year tickets to attend the Gala SOLD OUT and

thanks to our guests and sponsors, we raised a record breaking

$230,000! The Kidney Gala brings attention to kidney disease,

the people it affects, the people who care for them, and those

who are doing research to help prevent, treat, and even one day

find a cure for this serious disease. The Gala hosts hundreds of

people including nephrologists, political dignitaries, business and

philanthropic communities, kidney patients and other

distinguished guests. We are excited for what the 5th Annual

Kidney Gala has in store for our guests! The evening will begin

with a VIP Reception for our Sponsors, having the opportunity

to network over cocktails and appetizers before enjoying a

gourmet, 3-course dinner. Due to popular demand our Wine &

Spirits Wall will return, as will the Leadership Challenge and our

much anticipated live and silent auctions.

We are a national volunteer organization that is

committed to kidney health and improved lives

for all people affected by kidney disease.

Our mission is to fund and stimulate innovative

research; provide education and support;

promote access to high quality healthcare; and

increase public awareness and commitment to

advancing kidney health and organ donation.

To date, in 2016 we have:

Provided 33 post-transplant adults with accommodation in our Kidney Suites;

Sent 40 kids to Kidney Kids Camp;

Received 3324 car donations to our Kidney Car program;

Supported 350 people with kidney disease in nearly $100,000 in grants and $8,000 in interest free loans; and

Raised nearly $110,000 for National Research.

GALA HISTORY

The “Shine a Light Kidney Gala” originated in 2011, thanks to the

leadership and vision of co-chairs Dr. Adeera Levin and Dr. John

Gill. Due to the growth and success of the Gala, the 5th year will

introduce new branding and a Gala Committee that will contribute

to all aspects of the event.

PARTNERSHIP

The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC & Yukon Branch has

partnered with the Canadian Society of Nephrology (CSN) for the

5th year to support the 2017 Kidney Gala. CSN is a society of

physicians and scientists specializing in the care of people with renal

diseases, and in research related to the kidney and kidney disease.
