Dear Parents

Disabled car parking

As you are aware, we have a limited number of disabled parking bays at the front of the school. Could I please ask parents who have no

need to use the bays to refrain from parking in them at any time during the day. It is essential that the bays are used appropriately at all

times.

Exam survey

Thank you to those who responded to the exam survey. There were a limited number of responses and it would appear from those re-

ceived that opinion is divided almost equally. As such we will continue to hold the exams during the week prior to half term, not least

because this is excellent preparation for the external exams that pupils in Years 10 -13 complete.

Quiz Night

Thank you to all those parents who have signed up for the quiz night this evening. The event is now full. Unfortunately I am not able to

attend this year due to a prior commitment. I would like to thank the Friends and all those involved in the event for their hard work and

support. I am sure it will be a hugely successful evening.

Headteacher Commendation

Congratulations to Eve and Darcey for their production of a poster explaining how animals adapt.

Exam revision sessions

We have a large number of revision sessions on offer over the Easter holidays. If you

have not yet signed your son/daughter up for the sessions please do so as places are

limited and almost full. This is a perfect opportunity to support independent studies tak-

ing place over this period.

HMC Accreditation Visit

The school is having an HMC accreditation visit during the week commencing 11 April. Three Inspectors will be in school throughout the week looking at the work of the school and talking with Governors, pupils and staff. It is hoped that we will gain HMC accredita-tion in line with all high performing Independent schools across the country. More de-

tails about HMC schools can be found at www.hmc.org.uk.

Staffing

After the Easter break we will welcome Antje Kell as the new Head of the Junior School, Mark Birch as the Head of English and John

Norton as a Learning Support Assistant.

Mike Kirby, the Data and Reports Manager, will be leaving the school after 16 years. We wish him well for the future in his retirement.

Spring Concert

Thank you to all those pupils who took part in the music concert on Wednesday evening and to the parents who came to support the

event. It is always such a pleasure to hear the outcome of all the hard work that goes on throughout the term and to see the pupils en-

joying their performances.

Reflection on learning

Relish challenge. The world does not owe you a living and success is not handed to you on a plate. The easiest option is rarely the most satisfying alt-hough it is important to work smart as well as work hard: * What would have made that easier for me? * How could I make it harder for my-self? Learn to love learning and seek out

challenge. NL

Message from the Deputy Head Prefect

The Flint Street Nativity opened last

week and was a huge success. Well

done to all those involved, all the hard

months of rehearsal certainly paid off.

The end result was one of the funniest

productions I’ve ever been in. Thank

you to all those who attended and sup-

ported the School Production, as they

do every year, it is such an important

event for the Drama department. A

special thank you to everyone who

attended on Friday night, we are ex-

tremely pleased to say we raised over

£300 for Candlelighters, in memory of

Hope who was always involved in the

Drama productions. Finally thank you

to all involved in the production of the

show including the pupils who con-

trolled the lighting and especially the

Director, Mrs Asbury! It was also lovely

to see all the members of staff sup-

porting us in the audience, especially

Mrs Glover, who sat in the front row on

Saturday night and laughed enough for

the entire audience!
