A Litany of Remembrance—Mass on Friday, November 10. We would like to
remember those special people in our lives who have recently fallen ill or who have passed away.
We will have a litany of remembrance during this all school mass. Please submit the name of
your loved one to Mrs. Trepte before Monday, November 6. As always, we welcome you to
celebrate mass with us.
Student Volunteers needed! Last week, each of our students created a card that tells their story of their gift to God and His gift to them. During all Masses the
weekend of Oct 28/29, we hope to find 3 student volunteers to bring up the baskets full of these completed cards to the altar as part of the offertory donations. All volunteers should meet in the back of the church during the offertory song and will be directed by the ushers. Please sign up here.
We pray. We learn. We serve.

This year our first grade students are participating in a
symbolic butterfly migration! In Spanish class, they created their
paper butterflies, which are being sent to Mexico. These butterflies, along with an
ambassador butterfly and other butterflies created by children in the north will be
taken care of and protected by children who live beside the monarchs’ winter
sanctuaries in Mexico. The paper butterflies’ journey corresponds with the real
monarchs’ journey. In the springtime, when the real monarchs’ departure from
Mexico is announced, the paper butterflies will return to the north carrying special
messages from the students in Mexico.

We hope you enjoyed your long weekend! Our teachers were busy each day with professional development, planning, and building their faith. On Thursday, some teachers participated in a science
collaboration meeting with other archdiocese schools, others participated in a professional development program, Empowering Learners, at Cardinal Stritch University. On Friday, many team members visited New Berlin Public Schools to collaborate and share best practices on the Lucy Calkins Reading Program, while others worked on school and student improvement plans. Finally, on Monday, all teachers were busy building their faith during the Sustaining the Mission program with all other schools in the archdiocese. Once again, we thank you for all of your support.
It’s hard to believe that we are already planning for 2018—2019! Please ensure you have these important registration and re-enrollment dates on your calendar. Also, please share these dates with friends and family who are considering becoming part of our HA family:

New this year! Dining for HA! Join us as we dine for Holy Apostles at local area restaurants this year and skip the meal planning for the day! These
restaurants have offered to donate a percentage of their profits for a certain time to Holy Apostles Home and School Association. So bring your family (and don't forget to tell your friends, neighbors, and co-workers too!) First up will be the Cousins on National Ave, just across the street. Mark your calendars for October 25th and stop by any time, they will be donating profits for the entire day BUT you must show them this flyer. And don't forget, you can buy Scrip gift cards for Cousins. Do you have a great idea for a restaurant fundraiser or want to help this group out? Please contact Dora Davis ([email protected]).
Why not buy some Scrip and treat your family to Cousin’s? Earn money
for Holy Apostles Home and School and for you! Click on the link here for

If you are a credit card rewards fan, pick one area to use Scrip for instead: grocery, gas, restaurants, discount or retail stores, and start earning a tuition credit. Tuition credits last year ranged anywhere from $0.50 to almost $1,000.00! If you have questions, contact Denise Christianson or Inger Mescher. We are happy to help you!
Charger Chase raffle prizes will be announced on Friday! Thank you once again for supporting the Home & School Association!

HA’s Athlete of the Week honors our amazing athletes! Check back soon for the next Athlete of the Week!
If you know an athlete that works hard, share their story with us using the subject line, “Athlete of the Week Submission”! In addition to being featured in the Messenger, all Athlete of the Week stories will also be shared with the Catholic Herald for possible inclusion in their publication!
Do you love coming to games? Want some free HA spirit apparel?! Then consider joining the HA Athletic
Board! Before you say, “But I’m not sporty!” or “I don’t have enough time!” we’re happy to share that a background in sports isn’t required and we will work to accommodate your schedule. And…if you have an athlete…you’ll probably already be at the gym watching their games. So, why not share your voice and help us make decisions on how to help the program, our facility, our coaches, and our athletes? Athletics Director: Be the “face” of the Athletic Association and ensure our athletics are positioned to succeed! You’ll be responsible for
coordinating all events and meetings for the association.
Concessions Coordinator: Do you love hosting and event planning? Our concessions coordinator is responsible for ordering and managing concessions inventory, making decisions about what new and exciting options to add, and working with vendors. You’ll be the face welcoming guests at the concession stand and working with parents to create a concessions volunteer schedule.
Gym Maintenance Coordinator: Are you handy and like fixing things? We’re looking for someone to help us perform all required maintenance and upkeep to HA gym and facilities like the bleachers, hardware, and kitchen. This role helps us keep games running smoothly during the sports season so they aren’t stopped due to technical or mechanical issues.
Kitchen Duty Coordinator: Are you super organized? Do you thrive in details? Then we’ve got the role for you. Our kitchen coordinators are instrumental to the success of our athletics program. They work directly with parents, sports coordinators, and coaches to create season and tournament kitchen schedules.
Gym Duty Coordinator: Do you love spreadsheets and working with people? Help us coordinate the gym for volleyball and basketball seasons. You’ll be responsible for creating schedules and communicating any shift trades and switches—with the full support of our sports coordinators and coaches.
Pictures/Banquets/Music Coordinator: Do you love music and end of the season parties? This individual coordinates all dates, facilities, board members, volunteers, music, and external resources for everything related to team picture day and season ending banquets and award ceremonies.
Medical/Medical Forms/AED Coordinator: Do you have a medical background? Have you volunteered in the health room before? This might be the positon for you. You’ll make sure all medical supplies are fully stocked, medical forms are in before seasons start, and coordinate AED training.
Marketing Coordinator: Do you love to write and edit? Consider the marketing coordinator role! We’re looking for someone to help us write stories on athletes, upcoming games, and other athletics news for the Messenger. This role will also help us write emails, create flyers, and think of creative ways to share about HA’s sports program.
If you’re interested in learning more about the board or open positions, please reach out to Mike Schmidt. GO CHARGERS!
