Service, Awards, InterestsR.N. Ford Foundation Orphanage & School at Grison Garde, Haiti (http://www.fordhaitianorphanage.org/). Secretary, Cofounder of privately funded, secular orphanage and school. Founded in early 2002, designed and built by Haitians, the RNF Orphanage provides a home to 52 children in northern Haiti, plus free school and daytime meals for over 800 local children and steady jobs for “mamas,” teachers, administrators, and construction workers. Vocational school opened in 2008 and expanded in 2014-15 with help from Building Goodness Foundation. 2015 operating budget is roughly $500,000; 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to Haiti and Haitians with no administrative expenses or paid staff in the U.S. Also, the project currently funds a small community for elderly men and women who would otherwise be homeless; we have dug over two dozen wells, providing clean water and immeasurable health benefits in rural villages; we aslo provide substantial financial support to a midwife program, neighboring health clinic, and microloan program for budding entrepreneurs. Eighty-five percent of donations are from private individuals.

Module 5.4 (The Civil War) for the Wheatley Portfolio (by Great Minds, in association with KIPP Schools), a comprehensive language arts curriculum package for grade 5 classrooms implementing the Common Core State Standards, as well as several Text Studies for grade 5-9 classrooms.

Listening & Learning Strand. This strand of the Core Knowledge Reading Program focuses on teaching the background knowledge necessary to become a fluent reader.
