COMMAS Used to separate a series of

three or more words and also to separate adjectives with equal importance in front of a noun

To set off the parts of addresses, place names, and dates

COMMAS Also used to set off words of direct address and parenthetical expressions. A noun in a direct address is the name of the person being spoken to. A parenthetical expression is a word or a group of words inserted as a comment not necessary to the sentence.

quotation or parts of a divided quotation.
