Angela Lee
Angela Lee, a junior music education student, studies under the
tutelage of Melanie Helton at Michigan State University. While at MSU,
Angela has sung as a soprano soloist in the Messiah Sing-a-long under
Dr. David Rayl and was the soprano soloist in the Mozart Missa Brevis
in D Major with State Singers under Dr. Jonathon Reed. She has also
performed with MSU Opera Theatre as a tavern girl in Puccini’s La
boheme, as well as Miss Alan 2 in Robert Nelson’s A Room with a
View. She received first place at the 2013 Michigan National
Association for Teachers of Singing Competition Districts, third place
at the 2014 Michigan National Association for Teachers of Singing
Competition Districts, and third place at the 2015 Kalamazoo Bach
Festival’s Young Vocalists Competition. Outside of MSU, Angela enjoys
singing in the music ministry at St. John’s Student Center and St.
Thomas Aquinas Church.
Schyler Sheltrown
Schyler Sheltrown, soprano, studies under the tutelage of Melanie
Helton at Michigan State University. There, she has received her
Bachelor of Music and will receive her Master of Music this spring. In
her time at MSU, she has had the opportunity to perform in many MSU
Opera Theatre productions, which include the roles of Pamina in The
Magic Flute, Musetta in La bohème, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte,
Romilda in Xerxes, and Jin Zi in The Savage Land. She was also
selected as the soprano soloist for The Messiah in December.
Recently, Ms. Sheltrown was awarded an encouragement award from
the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She was also a
first prize recipient of the Scholarship Division of the National Opera
Association's Carolyn Bailey and Dominick Argento Vocal Competition.
In her future, Ms. Sheltrown intends to continue the pursuing a career
in music as well as her studies.
