Proper Training

Proper training is key to a good foundation for a great modeling career. A well-rounded education will benefit all involved in the modeling industry, from the models themselves to the designers to the customers that see the final product page.

• Currency should be according to your budget and their skill level.

• Gifting should be appropriate to the job size and something they will enjoy (such as an item from their wish list).

Photo Shoot Procedures• Give clear instructions before, during, and

after the shoot.• Replace any models that are unreliable.• Pay the models promptly so there is no

misunderstanding that you did not appreciate the work they provided.

• Send reminders if necessary (know your models and set appointments accordingly).

Beware the Free Agent and the Rogue Agency

• Be very cautious of anyone that approaches you at random looking for a job.

• NEVER sign a contract with an agency, always with the model, if a contract is needed.

• NEVER pay the agency for work the model provided. Always pay the model.

In Conclusion• Communication and Professionalism are key

factors.• Payment is negotiable, and don’t be afraid to

state what you want for their price.• Insist that your prospective models have a

portfolio for you to look at.• Treat the models with the same respect and

dignity that you expect from them.• Remember that models are people too, and

have a real life way from the computer, just like you do.
