Post Holders and Accessories$ 4- and 8-mm bore diameters

$ Threaded or flanged base

MicroLab™ post holders provide a simple method of adjustingthe height and angular orientation of 4- and 8-mm-diameter posts.Six different heights are offered for both bore diameters. Post hold-ers are available with either an M4-threaded base or a flanged base.

M4-threaded post holders will screw into component positionersand bases. Flanged-base post holders attach to components withthe standard hole pattern. A unique feature of the flanged-basepost holders is their narrow profile, which allows optical compo-nents to be very closely spaced. The height-locking thumbscrewon the flanged-base post holders can be mounted on either side, allowing the most convenient access to the thumbscrew.

Post collars are useful for maintaining the height of a post whenrotating it in a post holder. They also allow the post to be removedfrom the post holder and then replaced to the exact same height.Post holders and collars, made of black-anodized aluminum, are soldseparately.

PillarsPillars are available in six heights: 7.5, 12.5, 20, 45, 70, and

95 mm. An M6 thread on both ends allows them to be connectedtogether with a setscrew (provided) to achieve numerous heights. The7.5-mm-high pillars are also offered with an M4 thread for mount-ing post holders. Taller pillars have a cross-drilled hole for betterleverage when fastening.

Pillars and pillar mounting platforms are made of black-anodizedaluminum.

Clamping Fork and Hole Adaptors This clamping fork allows pillars to be mounted anywhere on

a table or breadboard. It is made from a high-strength aluminumalloy and has a clear-anodized finish. Able to work with both ¼-20and M6 screws, the clamping fork is very versatile and easy to use.Hole adaptors may be used to mount the clamping fork to theM2 hole pattern on MicroLab™ breadboards.

Adjustable-Angle Swivel Post Connectors Swivel post connectors are a cost-effective way to post-mount

components that require both variable position and angle. Com-ponent holders can be mounted and then swiveled to achieve opti-mal alignment. The connectors can be securely held in position onthe post by tightening the locking thumbscrew. Once aligned, theswivel ball joint can be locked to maintain the alignment of thecomponent.

Swivel connectors for both 4- and 8-mm-diameter posts areavailable. The swivel post is 4 mm in diameter and has a male M2thread for attaching component holders, an extension post, or athread adaptor (go to page 24.6). Adjustable-angle swivel post con-nectors are made of black-anodized aluminum and stainless steel.

Adjustable-angle swivel post connectors are ideal forpositioning delicate sensor components.

Post connectors allow useful mounting configurations.

There are two double-slot mounting bases, one for M2-threadedbreadboards and one for ¼-20- or M6-threaded tables and bread-boards. Both have the standard hole pattern, including twelve M2holes and a central M4 hole. This hole pattern can be used formounting most MicroLab™ components, including positioningstages, post holders, and component holders. 07 ACB-series spacer plates

Mounting bases and spacer plates are essential in mostapplications.

Spacer PlatesThe 2.5-, 5-, and 10-mm-thick spacer plates can be stacked to

raise a component’s axis to line up with that of other components. They can also be used to provide a central M4 or M2 thread toconveniently attach a post holder or post.

Miniature Optical Breadboards $ M2-threaded holes on 10-mm centers

$ Clearance holes for tabletop or standoff mounting

Standard optical breadboards and tables are appropriate forlarge components, however miniature optics usually need smallercomponent holders and much closer spacing and therefore requiresmaller breadboards. MicroLab™ component mounts and posi-tioners generally mount with M2 screws. To allow positioning flex-ibility, our miniature optical breadboards are M2-threaded on10-mm centers. Two sizes of breadboards are available: 170#180 mmand 250#350 mm. Both have clearance holes/slots for bolting toor standing off a larger table, and both are made of black-anodizedaluminum.

Optical-Rail Systems$ One- and four-sided optical rails

$ A range of rail-carrier lengths

$ Connectors for two- and three-dimensional assemblies

One-sided optical rails are available in four lengths: 50, 100,250, and 500 mm. The rails are slotted for bolting to ¼-20 orM6-threaded surfaces and have an M6-threaded hole in each endfor vertical mounting.

Four-sided optical rails are strong enough to build three dimen-sional optical structures. They can be connected together with eitheroptical rail T-connectors or corner connectors (recommended fora more stable structure). The slotted mounting holes andM6-threaded holes on the rails can also be used to bolt two railstogether.

The length of rail carriers often limits how closely optical com-ponents can be spaced. If a four-sided optical rail is mounted on pil-lars beside a one-sided rail, alternating the mounting of componentsallows spacing to be much closer together.

Optical rail carriers are available in three lengths: 6, 12, and25 mm. All carriers have an array of M2 holes and a central M4 hole. The underside of the carriers has a low-friction coating for smoothsliding. T-connectors, and vertical mounting bases can be used tobuild three-dimensional structures. The optical rail system com-ponents are made of black-anodized aluminum.

Four-Sided 19-mm Optical Rails

Four-Sided 19-mm Optical Rails Four-sided optical rails are useful in three-dimensional rail struc-

Examples of Four-Sided Setups

Four-sided rails are ideal for building three-dimen-sional structures

The four-sided rails are used here to create verystable multidimensional setups.

The four-sided rail is used with a standardMicroLab™ rail.

The four-sided rail is used to create various photonictools.

Vertical Rail-Mounting Base 07 ORA 509

Vertical Rail-Mounting Base

Vertical Rail-Mounting Base This slotted base provides a stable platform for vertical mount-

ing of four-sided and one-sided optical rails. M6 screws securelyattach the end of four-sided rails to the base. The base can then bebolted to a ¼-20- or M6-threaded table.

Two one-sided optical rails can also be bolted to the central slot.To create a strong vertical structure, 12.5-mm-high pillars can beused as spacers between rails. The vertical rail mounting base ismade of black-anodized aluminum.
