DEAR 2015 TWIN CITIES UTC ATHLETES,

Speaking for all of our Staff, we are so glad that you have chosen to attend one of our Ultimate Training Camps. The real distinctive of our UTC is that we will teach each of you how to compete from a Biblical perspective in your sport. Each morning and afternoon we will teach you a different Biblical principal in a classroom setting and then immediately put you into a competitive situation to help you practically integrate that particular principle. We have designed our UTC atmosphere to be very practical, highly competitive, and very personal and accepting. Our AIA UTC Staff are here to serve you and spend time with you; we look forward to meeting you. As you anticipate your arrival to our UTC the first week of June, PLEASE READ THIS LETTER COMPLETELY for important information you will need to know. All of your questions should be answered here.

After you have read this letter and you still have questions feel free to call or e-mail us any time. Please note that your registration is not complete until you have registered on-line and paid your $95 non-refundable registration fee with your credit card.

TRANSPORTATION and REGISTRATION

(UTC Registration, 1-6pm… First Meeting starts at 7 pm sharp!)

Our UTC will be on the University of St. Thomas campus in St. Paul, MN. Registration is from 1-6pm on Sunday June 1st, 2014. When you arrive on campus, registration will be held at Koch Commons (see directions below). Please DO NOT come in on the Saturday the night before, because we will not be able to house you and you will need to make those arrangements on you own.

DRIVING – Koch Commons (University of St. Thomas) address:2115 Summit Ave, St Paul, MN 55105*Note: We will be at University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, NOT Minneapolis. St. Thomas has 2 campuses.

FLYING – Please book your flight to arrive before 5:00pm, Sunday, May 31st. You will want to fly into Minneapolis International Airport (MSP), which is 15 minutes from the University of St. Thomas. (Please note there are 2 terminals for MSP airport, Terminal 1-Lindbergh and Terminal 2-Humphrey. They are close together with a 5 minute shuttle that runs between them continuously.)

Once you arrive in Minneapolis, you will need to find the Shuttle Service, which will bring you up to the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. The best shuttle option is supershuttle.com. The cost of the shuttle is about $25 one-way (rates are subject to change). Please tell your shuttle driver to take you to Koch Commons on the University of St. Thomas St. Paul campus, which is where the UTC will be housed. Koch Commons is on the corner of Selby and Finn under the skywalk.

NOTE . . . You will be free to leave anytime on the following Saturday morning (June 6) for your travel to your home.

HOUSING AND MEALS

The UTC will be housed at Brady Hall on the University of St. Thomas St. Paul campus. St. Thomas will provide you with all of your linens, blankets, etc. St. Thomas will provide you with excellent dorm food, which is included in your registration. Meals begin with dinner on Sunday, the first day of our UTC, and end with dinner on the following Friday.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BRING

Our dress is very casual. Please bring enough workout gear for five days of competition. You will also want to bring a sweatshirt or a light jacket for the nights, which can get fairly cool as well as a pair of jeans, etc. Please bring your own water bottle, ankle and knee wraps if you need them, athletic tape, sunscreen for the high elevation, a modest one-piece swimsuit, and your own Bible. Also bring a running type shoe and a basketball shoe for volleyball and basketball. Please bring your family’s updated insurance information in case of an emergency. You will not be allowed to participate in any athletic event without your insurance information.

WORKOUT FACILITIES

Although our schedule is very fast paced, you will get at least 2 hours each day to work out at the University of St. Thomas Student Recreation Center, which is a full facility gym. In the last 5 years, the University of St. Thomas has built some of the best athletic facilities in the entire region. You will be able to lift, hoop, swim, etc. I would strongly suggest that you do a little running before you come to our UTC to be in decent shape due the competition that you will be experiencing.

RAISING SUPPORT FOR REGISTRATION & TRANSPORTATION COSTS

You can raise support to pay for all or part of your $695 camp registration cost. You may want to consider writing a support letter and then approach your past coaches, your professors, your home church or campus church, family, friends or relatives concerning their possible investment in giving you a one-time gift on your behalf.

All of your checks must be made out to ATHLETES IN ACTION (not to you) to qualify as a tax-deductible gift. Please bring these checks with you and we will process them at registration. Please remember all checks must be made out to Athletes in Action. You may also want to bring a little extra money for gifts or unexpected expenses. If you would like a sample support letter check the FAQ section of the website (www.ultimatetrainingcamp.com). In addition, please ask your local AIA staff person (see www.athletesinaction,org for staff near you) to help you raise your support because our job is to help you get to our UTC.

INVITING YOUR TEAMMATES FROM YOUR OWN CAMPUS AND OTHER CAMPUSES

Many of your friends and teammates from your own team and athletic department or even other campuses may consider coming to our UTC knowing that you are going and that you invited them to COME WITH YOU! Your relationship with your friends could make the difference in whether they come and experience the same great week that you will. We, as your AIA staff, look forward to meeting you and spending time with you at our UTC! We hope to make you feel at home. Spending six days here in beautiful Twin Cities with men and women athletes from all over the country that you can relate to will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.

LOOKING FORWARD TO SERVING YOU!
