I believe that education is incomplete without some indulgence-therefore I plan picnics and outings for all the girls at Balgrah, like a visit to the zoo or movies, a chat-treat or a lunch of their choice. Occasionally, they come to my house to study and have a bite of their favourite dish which they request me to prepare. I also want to appeal to my friends and Rotarians to adopt a girl from the orphanage and help mould her future. Believe me, this will give you a lot of satisfaction. hajuraho, the abode of peace and K tranquility, takes you through a journey of evolution, development and spirituality. Situated along a lake known as Khajuraho - Sagar, this small town is the second most visited tourist spot in the country after Taj Mahal. Though the roads are bad, but the RCKG bandwagon of 40 members including Annets made it a memorable journey. For a few like Sharad and me, it was our first outing with the RCKG group and one which we will cherish.

Hats off to the organizers lead by our President Rtn. Sanjay Chowdhary and the tour planner Ann Ritu Bhargava, who made great efforts in making every hour of three day trip interesting. There was never a dull moment. It was heartening to see the involvement of the Annets during the trip. They were the icing on the cake.

We started our journey on 24.12.10 with a lavish breakfast hosted by Rtn Shri Ram Agarwal and Ann Manju Agarwal at their residence. Thereafter, courtesy our Anns we had sumptuous snacks all along the way - delicious sandwiches, puri bhaji, laddo, gur sandesh, chocolates, chips and drinks unlimited.

For hours together we all played Antakshari, some golden Hindi film Songs were dug out from memory. An eight hour journey brought us to Khajuraho around 4 PM. We also had the experience of a Tempo ride after our Bus tyre got punctured on the outskirts of Khajuraho. It was a scene straight out of a Bollywood film, with the RCKG Group on two Tempos cheering away and entering Hotel ‘Ramada Inn'. The Hotel was very comfortable and courtesy Ann Ritu Bhargava, Annets were given separate rooms, which added fire to the stay of the Rotarian couples.

After a late lunch, we proceeded to the Temples for a Sound & Light show. Then, everyone got dressed in Red to attend the Bonfire party in the Hotel. All danced to foot tapping music and welcomed Christmas with the traditional Turkey Dish which most of us had for the first time.

The next morning started early for a few Rtns, Anns and Annets who went on a Safari to Panna Wildlife Sanctuary and had the wonderful experience of witnessing Nature in all its pristine glory.

The visit to the Temples was an ethered experience. The architectural beauty of the temples is exquisite. The figures of Apsaras in different postures and moods casts a spell on you. Added to this, the sunlight was giving a different hue to each of them. It seemed the Sun God was playing with their bodies and the Apsaras, all excited, would walk out any moment from their stone abode. Our dear Rtn. Kanwar Prit Singh, who was the official photographer, clicked some amazing pictures of this cosmic event.

SPORTS DAY AT BALGRAH ON 19TH DEC.

SPECIAL MOMENTS AT KHAJURAHO

PANNA SAFARI TEAM

The Lunch at ‘Tree Top' was an awesome experience. Perched on a tree in the midst of Panna Santuary, with the river flowing below and having finger licking food cooked on charcoal fire, was something really special. Truly a great place. We then visited 'Pandava Falls’ where the cool and fresh water droplets rejuvenated all of us. That night we again had a bonfire party where everyone was dressed in Black, Some really interesting games were prepared for the occasion by Ann Minu Sutwala and her team and our stop jokes by Rtn. Sandeep Garg brought everyone into the right mood, The Rotarians danced on 'Sheela Ki Jawani' number, showcasing true 'DOSTANA’ RCKG style.

All good things come to an end, so the next morning after some group photographs and after visiting 'Raina Falls', we started on our return journey. The bus drive was again made interesting with more games being played en-route. Annets also showcased their talent. During all this festivity, we stopped at 'Chandu Ka Dhaba' for lunch and enjoyed the Tadka Dal and Jeera Aloo. We reached Kanpur around 9 P.M. and truly by then the RCKG group had scripted their very own ‘Banti Aur Babli’.

After this short and sweet fun filled holiday, I can surely say :

The RCKG Khajuraho trip flavour,

Is there for us to savour.

Ann. Namrita Tandon

It was my most enjoyable

visit to the Boys Balgrah till Date. I am sure Ann. Manju

and Ann. Archana would share the same feeling as there were no other Rtn.

or Anns to share our joy.So if we enjoyed ourselves so much, guess

how much the Boys enjoyed ????????? The glitter in their eyes, the smile, the excitement and thrill of winning or the momentary sadness of losing a game - should have been seen to be believed. We formed teams of red and green for all the games and all these were group events. Bands of respective colours were tied on the wrists of groups between 18/24 Boys each. First we had the pick and putt ball game won by the green team. Initially there was some confusion amongst the boys regarding the rules but then everyone followed the same.

The winning chorus of ‘Jeet Gaye’ and the excitement of all the team members

getting prizes was great.
