25 July 2017
In the holidays I was at Westpoint in
Blacktown. I saw one of our students.
He stopped completely, looked at me
and whispered, “It’s Miss Webster.” A
smile came to his face. His mum said to
me, “How can you be here when your
heart is in Minchinbury?” A smile came
to my face.
This is why Minchinbury is such a great
place to be.

P&C Fundraising Event: Fun Run
Term 3 Week 3: Wednesday 2 August
Our P&C is holding a major fundraising event this term.
All students K‐6 will participate in a walk‐a‐thon / fun run. Students will be able to run, walk, skip
or make their way around the track in any way they like.
For every student who raises over $10, he/she will be able to order a prize either online or by
returning information to the school. Students have one week after the Walk‐a‐thon to do this.
Information about this is located in this package.
Families have an opportunity to activate an online fundraising account. This can be done by
creating a student profile at:
www.schoolfunrun.com.au
Families can also raise cash donations. The sponsorship card in this booklet can be used for that
purpose.
All cash is due back to the school office by 3pm Wednesday 2 August 2017.
All online sponsorship must be logged by 3pm Wednesday 2 August 2017.
There can be no extensions to this. The company CUA School Fun Run is coordinating the
collection of money and distribution of prizes. No late money can be accepted.
As this is a P&C run fundraiser NO payments can be made via the online payment section on the
school website
A package of information about this event was sent home at the end of last term AND on
Monday 24 July. This information can also be found on our website.

The topic was based around 'Kids and Parents' and the issue was 'That parents and kids should
have pets at home'. Minchinbury Motivators were the negative side and argued against the
issue.
It was a very close and hard fought debate. Well done to Tayla, Mischa, Giscelle and Mustafa
who represented MPS in the debating team. You can see photos of them busily writing down
rebuttals and preparing to speak.

Staff Development Days in Term 4
In Term 4, staff participate in two staff development days. This year, the Department of Education has nominated 18 and
19 December 2017 as the Term 4 staff development days. No students attend school on these two days.
Minchinbury PS staff have nominated to reallocate these staff development days. To replace these days, staff will
participate in four evening sessions of professional learning before the end of the year.
This will mean that the last day staff will be on site this year will be 19 December 2016. If you have any questions about
this, please contact Miss Webster.

The Tell Them From Me parent feedback survey (Term 3, 2017)
This Term, our school will be participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me
suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers
questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement.
Running this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school.
These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home and parent/carer views
on the school's support of learning and behaviour. This valuable feedback will help our school make practical
improvements.
The survey is conducted entirely online on smartphones, ipads, tablets, laptops or computers. The survey will typically take
15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent survey will be conducted between 21 August and
13 October. Although participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, your responses are very much appreciated.
Our school will provide further information about how to access the survey. In the meantime, more information about the
survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/
