Securing devolved powers marked a major milestone in Newcastle City Region’s history. Ambitious plans have been set out for investing in high quality jobs for the region and we have prepared the ground for accelerating our global reach and influence. We now have a combined authority with £600m to invest in creating 10,000 new jobs in the coming years, unlocking the potential to create the conditions for businesses to flourish, positioning the North of Tyne strongly regionally, nationally and internationally.

MIPIM is our single best opportunity to showcase what Gateshead has got to offer to developers and investors from all over the world.

We joined the Newcastle delegation in 2018 and again in 2019, and both experiences were very productive. MIPIM has proved itself as a really important platform for attracting and securing international investment. Our £260m flagship project, to bring a waterfront arena, conference and exhibition centre to Gateshead Quays was a hot topic and sparked major interest from both public and private sector partners.

MIPIM is one of the world’s largest property events. It takes place over 4 days, gathering some of the most influential players from all sectors of the international property industry. More than 26,000 delegates from 100 countries attend, providing an unmissable opportunity to connect with key decision makers. Invest Newcastle has led a public-private sector delegation to MIPIM for the last four years, with key players in Newcastle’s property sector representing our city and presenting projects at this world leading conference. In 2019 a record delegation of almost 90 people from 32 organisations joined forces to showcase the North East to the international property world.

Our stand and programme of events

The Newcastle stand provides a platform for partners to engage with investors and to deliver an events programme that showcases our city’s strengths, expertise and development opportunities.

In 2020 we will introduce the theme of wellness and urban sustainability, which will play a significant role in the design of our stand and our events programme. We will deliver a series of panels and discussion around topics such as smart technologies and the role they play in helping buildings, investors, occupiers and employees work smarter and be more sustainable.
