How to Use tHese Cards

After presenting the mission report or at the end of Sabbath School, give the children the corresponding mission card. Remind them to pray for the child/children featured on the card during the week.

The following week, hold up the previous week’s card and ask the children what they remember about that child or their story.

Remind children that there are three things they can do to help others learn about God:

1 Tell them about Jesus

2Pray for those who are telling others about Jesus

3Give their mission offerings so that those we can’t tell have a chance to learn about Jesus.

Encourage the children to collect all 12 cards each quarter.

When Monika’s family moved to Czech Republic, Monika found ways to share her love for Jesus in her new homeland.

The Czech Republic is a small country in central Europe. About 10 million people live there. The official language is Czech.

Johana’s family had just moved to a new city, and she was lonely. She asked God for a special friend, and He sent Sara, who had also prayed for a best friend. The girls know that God answered their prayers.

The Czech Republic has about one Adventist for every 1,333 people. Many people in the Czech Republic don’t believe in God and don’t know that Jesus loves them.

Daniel was unhappy at school. Some kids bullied other children, threatened them, and took their lunch money. Daniel’s parents enrolled him in the Adventist school, where Daniel quickly made new friends.

Adventist schools in the Czech Republic have lots of non-Adventist students. The teachers try to teach children and their families about God’s love.

Christof’s family moved to a small village in Portugal. He met an elderly man who taught Christof to care for goats. Christof, in turn, shared his faith in Jesus with his new friend.

Portugal is a rectangular country lying south and west of Spain on the Iberian Peninsula. Its capital and largest city is Lisbon, and its official language is Portuguese.

Brito loves to spend Sabbath afternoon with his Pathfinder Club giving out literature and book. “It’s a great feeling to know we can make people happy while we share God’s love,” he says.

Brito’s church meets in a small rented store in a town near Lisbon, Portugal. They pray for a larger building so they can invite more people to worship with them.

Beatriz’ grandfather was in the hospital. She prayed every day that God would help him get better so he could learn to love Jesus. He was glad that Beatriz prayed for him.

Madeira is an island off the coast of Portugal. About 300 Adventists live on the island. Beatriz attends the Adventist school, where she is learning to trust God for her every need.

Andre visited people to give them books and invite them to church. One man told Andre, “No one has invited me to church before.”

“I’m inviting you now!” Andre said. The man came to church and gave his life to Jesus.

Members in Andre’s church are praying for a larger building so they can share God’s love with more people.

Ivan had never been to church before his aunt invited him. He learned that God wants us to spend Sabbath with Him. Ivan invites his parents and some classmates to rest with Jesus on the Sabbath.

Ivan and his family are Romani (Gypsy). They are a nation of people who live throughout Europe and in other countries. They speak Romani.

Evelina and Janet are best friends. Janet was glad when Evelina invited her to church. The girls love Sabbath School, but sometimes the little apartment where they meet is too full, and the children must meet outside.

Part of this quarter’s Thirteenth Sabbath Offering will help Evelina and Janet’s congregation build a church. The children’s offering will help provide a room for children, with chairs, tables, and learning aids.

Megan had an accident and broke her leg. Doctors put a large pin in her leg to help the bones heal. Whenever the pain became too strong, Megan thought about how Jesus must have felt when the soldiers nailed him to the cross.

Bulgaria has about one Adventist for every 1,000 people.

Megan’s church is in an office building in the heart of Sofia, the capital city.

Zarry [ZAH-ree] changed schools and had to complete two years of some classes in one year. He worked hard and prayed, and he finished the year near the top of his class. “Everyone in my class knows that God answered my prayers,” he says.

Adventist children share their faith with their classmates and teachers and invite them to church.

Show the children in your Sabbath School class that the boys and girls they hear about in mission stories are real children. These boys and girls are missionaries in their own way because they share God’s love with their friends and family.

These cards will remind the children in your Sabbath School class to pray for the boys and girls they hear about in the mission report. Your children’s prayers will help these children to be brave, kind, helpful, and loving examples so that others might see Jesus in them. Teach children to pray for themselves and others that they can be true missionaries for God.

3Q13 FlashCards.indd 27 4/11/13 6:41 PM

Send a missionary home with the children in your Sabbath School class each week. Adventist Mission Cards for Kids contain profiles of 12 children featured in the children’s mission quarterly. Each card contains a photo, country information and fun facts about a place the mission offerings go each quarter.

This product from the General Conference Office of Adventist Mission and Children’s Ministries can make the weekly mission stories tangible for your kids and encourage them to pray for the children that they meet each week in Children’s Mission.
