2015 Financial UpdateThrough the first two months of 2015, we have received $217,223 in gifts while totaling $228,797 in expenses.

Thank you so much for your faithfulness and generosity in giving. Your gifts enable us to make disciples and change in lives in the name of Jesus every day.

You may make gifts to Fountain City UMC online at www.fountaincityumc.org. For more information or if you have questions about your giving, you may contact church administrator John Patterson or financial assistant Dee Dee Seals at 689-5175.

Capital Campaign UpdateIn 2008, FCUMC embarked on a three-year capital campaign to update and renovate the church building in order to enable us to worship God faithfully and transform the community well into the future. Improvements to the church as a result of this campaign include the new welcome center, an expanded narthex area, an elevator, as well as various infrastructure repairs and renovations.

At the time we received pledges of $2.6 million in order to make the necessary improvements. We recently completed a second three-year campaign in order to reduce our indebtedness on this project during which we received gifts of $797,546.

We are so very grateful for your generosity in giving to this campaign as these gifts have reduced our building debt to $1,166,003. Even though the campaign technically ended at the end of 2014, you may continue to give to the capital campaign by indicating so in the memo line on your check or by designating through online giving. Please pray for our financial leadership teams as we discern our next steps to move forward as we continue to make disciples and change lives in Jesus’ name.

Holy Week at FCUMC

For the last several weeks as we have journeyed through Lent, we have been intentional about paying attention to God’s character as we experience it in the Bible. As we approach Jesus’ final trip to Jerusalem and his arrest, mock trial and crucifixion, we are reminded again of God’s unconditional love for us that is revealed in Jesus’ obedience and sacrifice.

To help us prepare to receive the gift of Resurrection on Easter Sunday, during Holy Week we will worship together on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. On Thursday, we will relive the Last Supper and Jesus’ Commandment to love one another. On Friday, we will experience the darkness of Good Friday. For it is only after we walk through the betrayal and suffering of Maundy Thursday, the death of Good Friday, and the waiting of Holy Saturday that we can truly celebrate Resurrection on Easter Sunday!
