our Annual PresentaƟon Day at MiƩagong RSL between 9.15 and 11.00am. Our school oce will sƟll be open and a class teacher will remain behind to look aŌer those students who arrive at school aŌer the buses have leŌ or who have not returned their permission notes. The normal school day will resume aŌer morning tea. Reports Next Monday our Semester Two reports will be sent home with students. For parents who may be wondering what some of the informaƟon really means and what they should do with that informaƟon, I’d like to make the following comments: Please take the opportunity to review the progress your child has made by siƫng with them and discussing their grades. Take noƟce of the Eort raƟng for each area as this is a good indicator of the level of engagement your child has displayed. Also keep in mind that on the scale of aƩainment a “Sound” ranking is not a poor score. This ranking tells you that your child is performing where they ought to be at this Ɵme. I emphasize this, as someƟmes, parents fear this raƟng reects poorly on their child’s achievement as if it were somewhat lacklustre or just barely geƫng there. Nothing could be further from the truth! Values Survey Parents are encouraged to give our school some input to help us shape some of the upcoming school plan for the next three years. We are working to redene our core school values as part of this process. Students and stahave been asked which values such as respect, responsibility, fairness etc they want to see promoted the most in our school. Please go to our website to nominate your preferences as parents so that we have a good clear picture of what our community values the most! You can nd the link to the survey on the home page of our website www.miƩagongp.schools.nsw.edu.au Volunteers’ Morning Tea Today we had a wonderful Ɵme with many of our volunteers who give so much to our school! Without overgeneralising things too much, to score “High” your child would have been working at a similar level to one year above their year level. To score an “Outstanding”, their work a ainment is considered to be the equivalent of two years ahead. For this reason, High’s and Outstanding’s are not lightly given out. In the “olden days” a “C” grade meant an average student. Today “C” or “Sound” usually means a student is performing very well in everything, so don’t miss‐read the grade and conclude your child needs to try harder. That conclusion is be er read from the effort score. If you have any ques ons for your child’s teacher in rela on to their report please contact our office to make an appointment. Our staff will be happy to answer any queries.

Students in Year 2 and any older interested students, also took home informa on about enrolling in lessons on the following instruments: trumpet, trombone, euphonium, clarinet, saxophone, violin, viola and cello.

Library borrowing has finished for 2017. Please return all books immediately as the 2017 Library Stocktake has commenced. If you cannot find your book… DON’T PANIC! Library books like to hide in homes, under car seats, in classrooms and on the library shelves. If you are unable to find the books a er an extensive search, please choose a book from home to donate to the library in replacement for the book you have lost.

The book you choose may be one that you don’t par cularly like, but one that you think other students in our school would like. Alterna vely, it could be a book that you have grown out of, or a book you have double copies of.

When choosing a replacement book to donate, please remember that we are not a preschool, so baby board books won’t be used. Please ensure that the condi on of the book is up to a Library standard.

The Wingecarribee Public Library has a great range of children’s books that are free to borrow. If you are not a member you will need a parent or guardian to fill in a Junior Membership Applica on form and supply an acceptable form of iden fica on at the me, such as a driving licence. All resources are free of charge, however students do need to apply for and hold a Wingecarribee Library card. If you haven’t been to the library for some me and are interested in downloading online resources for your devices, you will need to contact the library to receive your 4 digit pin.
