The Operational Plan for the Tourism Restructuring of Lloret de Mar 2015-2020 is the tourism policy road map of Lloret, a result of the agreement reached between the Government of Catalonia, Girona Provincial Council (through the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board) and the Tourism Business Round Table of Lloret de Mar, made up of entrepreneurs of the private sector of Lloret de Mar.
The Operational Plan 2015-2020 groups together actions in the following areas: connectivity and mobility of the town; urban regeneration; modernisation, renovation and new investments in the accommodation sector and in the overall tourism offering; energy efficiency and telecommunications; and creation and consolidation of strategic products, events and high-value segments.

The General Directorate of Tourism has also been working at the same time with Orange on the study of the “Pilot analysis of tourist mobility in Catalonia”. This data will show movement patterns and provide conclusions identifying strengths and weaknesses.
This flow study is taking place in three areas: the Costa Daurada, Barcelona and its metropolitan area, and the Costa Brava (Blanes and Lloret de Mar).
It is the first such project, and will permit the study of two specific times of year (Easter and August 2018), the number of tourists or day-trippers who come to each area, and how they move between them. The aim is to discover how many tourists who stay overnight in one area visit others.

Urban beachLloret de Mar has established itself in recent years as an urban beach tourist destination, as well as positioning itself in other tourism segments, such as sports tourism and MICE tourism.
We define "urban beach" as a new coastal destination concept in which the natural attractions of sun and sand are complemented by a series of added territorial values, such as culture, gastronomy, shopping and leisure.

Lloret de Mar forms part of the Alliance of Sun and Sand Tourism Towns (AMT), leaders together with Salou, Benidorm, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Torremolinos, Calvià, Adeje and Arona. The alliance has been created with the goal of stimulating the modernisation and competitiveness of these pioneering destinations.
Since 2010, Lloret de Mar has been certified as a Family Tourism destination by the Catalan Tourism Agency of the Catalan Government.
The AMT was created and registered in 2018 with those Town Councils that form part of it; its trademark and logo were designed and registered in 2018.
In 2019, the aim is to search for ways to improve the short- and long-term funding of tourist destinations.
These municipalities welcome over 11M foreign tourists, or 14.68% of those who visit Spain, with over 67M overnight stays, 20.27% of the national total (*)
Representing just 0.92% of the Spanish population, they create over 86,000 jobs, which is 3.98% of jobs in tourism in the country. (*)

Gastronomy
Lloret de Mar has, in conjunction with the Alicia Foundation, set up the “2018-2022 Promotion Strategy of the Gastronomy Sector of Lloret de Mar”, with the help of the Hotel Guild of Lloret de Mar, and the Association of Bars and Restaurants of Lloret de Mar.
This project, to give a structure to the gastronomy sector, is divided into two main axes, Health, and Identity; through these, the aim is to improve the quality of the town’s restaurants and promote local cuisine.
Health strategic line
There is ever-greater interest in healthy food among consumers, whether national or international; the focus is on the importance of acquiring healthy habits, and the promotion of a balanced diet, year-round, including holidays.
This means adaptation to existing regulations, and the new tastes in restaurants, bars, and cafés, but above all of the food served in the town’s hotels, to provide visitors with a better service.
This line is to be developed through five priority actions:
1. Food allergy and intolerance: promote the understanding and adaptation of the gastronomic offer through training, production of specific material, and specialised assessment.
2. Adaptation to the Mediterranean diet: the promotion of those AMED-certified establishments, given by the Catalan Agency of Public Health, that promotes Mediterranean food as a model of healthy eating in mass-catering.
16 accredited restaurants:• Hotel Acapulco ****• Hotel Delamar ****• Hotel Evenia Olympic Garden ****• Hotel Evenia Olympic Palace ****• Hotel Evenia Olympic Park ****• Hotel Evenia Olympic Suites ****• Hotel GEM Wellnes & SPA ***• Hotel Guitart Central Park Aqua Resort **** (3
restaurants)• Hotel Guitart Rosa ***• Hotel Samba ***• Hotel Surf Mar ****• Hotel Xaine Park ****• Restaurant Can Guidet• Restaurant Mas Romeu
3. Vegetarian and vegan diet: support the adaptation of the culinary offer through training, production of specific material, and specialised assessment.
4. Child-focused program: creation of suitable and attractive dishes for the youngest, that are balanced and nutritionally complete.
5. Food and sports’ tourism: provide a specific offer for sports’ players in specialized establishments.
In 2019, Lloret de Mar Town Council has signed an collaboration agreement with the Celiac Association of Catalonia to aid in improving the quality of life of coeliacs and their families, and promoting those establishments that offer gluten-free produce.
2 accredited establishments:• Hotel Anabel• Gnomo Park
Identity strategic line
Lloret’s cuisine is cosmopolitan, integrating, and combines local tradition with international cuisine. This glocal coexistence is its principal distinguishing feature.
2019 will see the presentation of the specific action plan to develop this strategic line.
