MPL Writing Circle
Thursday, December 10, 6:30 - 8:30PM
The MPL Writing Circle meets twice per month.
In a safe workshop setting, members aged 18+
are encouraged to share their writing, no matter
the genre, format, or style. Feedback is given
based on the author’s request, such as
structural critique, help with an idea, or just an
audience. This format allows individual voices to
flourish, encourages fellowship, and fosters
friendships. Be our guest for a couple of
meetings and see if MPL Writing Circle is for
you! Registration required.
Getting Started in Your Genealogy
Saturday, December 12, 10:00 - 12:00PM
Moises Garza, a genealogy blogger from the
website We Are Cousins and genealogist
dedicated to research in South Texas and
Northern Mexico, will conduct a presentation on
“Getting Started in Your Genealogy”. Come
learn about resources in locating your
ancestors, who at one point lived in this area.
This program will be video recorded.

MPL Book Club
Tuesday, December 15, 7:00 - 8:30PM
Book club members meet to discuss this month’s
selection. For more information, or to register for
the club, contact Beverly in the Reference
department. Registration required.
Coloring for Adults
Friday, December 18, 2:00 - 3:00PM
Coloring is not just for kids- it’s a fun, calming, and
stress-relieving form of relaxation. Colored pencils,
coloring pages, and music will be provided.

Pets: Winter Safety Tips
Saturday, December 19, 3:00 - 4:00PM
Winter weather can be hazardous for pets in many
ways. Come learn some important safety tips for
protecting your family’s pets and hear about the
laws in place that protect outdoor animals from
extreme temperatures outside. Registration
required.
GED Classes
The McAllen Public Library, in collaboration with
Region One Education Service Center, will be
offering free GED classes. For more information,
