Who? What? Statewide network of Member Newspapers who opt in to participate by publishing MNA Statewide ads each week and who are able to sell ads and keep ½ the revenue…

o SCAN - Statewide Classified Advertising Network: these are classified line ads

(text only) priced at a flat rate of $149 for first 25 words + $4.30 for each additional word. http://www.mtnewspapers.com/statewide-classified-ad-network/

o SDAP - Statewide Display Advertising Program: these are display ads (graphics, logos, text, grayscale) priced by size, 2 col x 2” $406 | NEW SIZE added 2 col x 3” $609 | 2 col x 4” $812 | 2 col x 6” $1,218. Two different ad copies must be submitted; one is 3.2” wide the other is 3.7” wide. STATEWIDE ADVERTISING 2016 UPDATE

Sales reps. reserve ad space by 5pm on the Wednesday before the week of publication; e-mail pdf of ad copy to MNA ([email protected])

Insertion orders and ad copy will come from the MNA office each Thursday morning by noon o Ad copy is available on the MNA FTP site; one folder for SDAP ads, one folder for SCAN ads

Ads run during the week per paper’s publication schedule (daily newspapers may run in whichever

day of the week they prefer); ad position is at the discretion of the newspaper (does not have to run in Classified Ads Section)

MNA verifies ads were placed as ordered by viewing digital tearsheets from a few newspapers each week

Newspapers selling the ads keep 50% of the total ad sale and make payment to MNA

o (MNA will provide invoices for all ads sold)

Dividends Paid to Network Newspapers - MNA sets aside a percentage of their half of statewide ad revenue to return to the participating member newspapers in the form of Dividends; the MNAS Board reviews dividend distribution quarterly, if a distribution is approved individual checks are mailed to ALL members of the network, regardless if they sold an ad(s) or not.

The proof is in the publication! Each week, five newspapers are selected and reviewed by Pamela in the MNA office for both the SCAN ads and the SDAP ads. Using the MNA digital archive (Tecnavia), Pamela visually inspects newspapers digital pages. On occasion, if the pages are not yet uploaded or not complete, Pamela will request a tearsheet be sent as proof that statewide ads were published. This allows early detection if ads did not run as ordered and possible “make goods”. • More and more state government agencies and departments are using statewide ads in addition to

regular display ads. • And, most state government entities require MNA to provide an Affidavit of Publication for statewide

advertising. The Affidavit lists the number of newspapers running the ads and during specific timeframes/dates. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance!
