9. RNEWABLE ENERGY PROGRAMME A) ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS:

Today, our way of living often harms the environment. The way that we produce and

consume goods depletes the Earth. The growing world population continues to drain the earth of its natural resources.

Carbondioxide and other “greenhouse gases” are an important part of Earth’s natural cycles, but human activities are boosting their concentrations, in the atmosphere to dangerous levels. The result is rising global temperatures and an unstable climate that threatens humans, economies and ecosystems.Energy lights our cities, towns and villages. Energy powers our vehicles, trains, planes and rockets. Energy help us cook our food, play music, television etc. energy powers machinery in factories and tractors in fields.Energy is universally recognized as one of the most significant inputs for economic growth and

human development. Increasing demand for energy is creating problems ranging from rise in prices energy shortage, pollution and waste, displacement of people etc.Renewable

sources (Energy derived from Flowing water, Solar radiation, Wind energy, Energy from tides, Geothermal energy, Biomass (Wood, animal and crop waste).

MNTN created awareness and educated the community.Conservation is important since it saves money and natural resources, reduces environmental impacts. Identify electricity usage and wastage, changing energy wasting habits, becoming energy efficient. The practical implementation was based on using LED bulbs, natural fertilizers, less pollution,

planting.

B. EARTH DAY AWARENESS PROGRAMME.

The celebration of Earth Day is on April 22nd and it began 1970. It has grown into a global event recognized by over 192 countries. Devoting special a day to helping for the earth is a

way to demonstrate how much we care about the future of our planet. No matter what you like to do best, there's a way to get involved in Earth Day.

We the MNTN and its overall schemes celebrate Earth day by; Planting a tree, Make a meal with locally-grown vegetables, Educate a family member, Clean up trash in your neighborhood, Set up a bird feeder or save power the possibilities

are endless. water and energy conservation. If you live near a body of water, do research to find out whether it's healthy or in need of help.

Host clean-ups of local bodies of water and their shores Fight air and water pollution

Plant trees and install community gardens etc.

These are practiced and preached by MNTN in all rural villages through rural WSHGs.

10. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

Natural disasters can neither be predicted nor prevented. The problem before us is how to cope with them, minimizing their impact. Tamil Nadu has witnessed havoc caused by cyclones and storm surge in the coastal regions, earthquakes, monsoon floods, landslides, and recently the Tsunami. Increase in urban population coupled with the construction of man-made structures often poorly built and maintained subject cities to greater levels of risk to life and property in the event of earthquakes and other natural hazards. One of the main objectives is to reduce the risk of loss of human life and property and to reduce costs to the society. We have to recognize that in such cases of natural disasters.

MNTN at the time of disaster minimized the effect of flood by accommodating in our Old Age Home. We provided food and accessories. We arranged for a Medical Camp and

thereby avoided from contamination of diseases. MNTN also provided several relief measures of distributing food packets in various areas, providing water packets, bread packets, candles mates, bed sheets etc.

11. INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY.

March 8th is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

. International Women's Day (IWD) on March 8 as an important opportunity to:

MNTN is always for women and women empowerment therefore, we celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women because visibility and awareness

help drive positive change for women declare bold actions. For MNTN it is an opportunity to align and promote relevant activity. Whatever your objective, International Women's Day is the perfect moment for gender-focused action which is done by MNTN through its actions and practices, on all aspects in various rural villages among WSHGs. For some women’s day is a celebration but for MNTN it’s a creation of purposeful action targeted towards bold action.

12. WORLD AIDS DAY

World AIDS Day is held on the 1st December each year and we MNTN take an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living

with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. Today, scientific advances have been made in HIV treatment, there are laws to protect people living with HIV and we understand so much more about the condition. Despite , people do not know the facts about how to protect themselves and others, and stigma and discrimination remain a reality for many people living with the condition. Therefore MNTN conducts various awareness and educational programmes in community, rural villages, schools and in anganwadis for local people. World AIDS Day is important because it reminds the public and Government that HIV has

not gone away – there is still a vital need to raise money, increase awareness, fight prejudice and improve education. World AIDS Day is an opportunity to show support to and solidarity with the millions of people living with HIV. Wearing a red ribbon is one simple way to do this.

13. ELDERS DAY.

1st October is celebrated as the International Day for Elderly. well as to enroll their significant involvement in the society to get promoted from their knowledge and ability. The day is celebrated to examine issues, promote public awareness

and focus on which type of behavior can help older men and women throughout their life. MNTN celebrate International Day for Older Persons is specially celebrated for the senior

citizens to focus on the responsibilities towards their lives through the demonstration of promotional material in schools, institutions, offices and public notice boards. People are

getting encouraged about their responsibilities towards the lives of elder people to make their life better and happy by analyzing all the problems affecting the life of older people.

For MNTN it is not a that particular day of celebration, since it holds and shelter the elders for the past 15 years with its affection and action based on love and care

14. DRUG DE-ADDICTION DAY.

All countries and communities continue to improve the lives of everyone blighted by drug abuse by integrating security and public safety with a heightened focus on health, human rights, and sustainable development."

Drug trafficking, once viewed largely as a social and criminal problem, has transformed in

recent years into a major threat to the health and security of people and regions. This year’s International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is an opportunity to highlight the importance of addressing these twin threats through the rule of law and the provision of health services. We MNTN protect vulnerable people through a wide range of activities including education and prevention, treatment of drug dependence, care and rehabilitation for drug users, and social support. Drug use, at its core, is a health issue.

Drug dependence is a disease, not a crime. The real criminals are the drug traffickers. MNTN had by succeed in these aspects we reinforce our commitment by our Puthiya Paathai Drug De addiction Centre to the basic principles of health and human rights,

shared responsibility, a balanced approach to reducing supply and demand, and universal access to prevention, treatment and support. This will foster communities free of drug-related crime and violence, individuals free of drug dependence who can contribute to our

common future, and a safer world for all.

India is one of the oldest civilizations in the world with a kaleidoscopic variety and rich cultural heritage. It has achieved all-round socio-economic progress since Independence. As the 7th largest country in the world, India stands apart from the rest of Asia, marked off as it is by mountains and the sea, which give the country a distinct geographical entity. Bounded by the Great Himalayas in the north, it stretches southwards and at the Tropic of Cancer, tapers off into the Indian Ocean between the Bay of Bengal on the east and the Arabian Sea on the west.

17. WORLD YOGA DAY

International day of yoga is also called as the world yoga day. United Nations General Assembly

determination of old age is naturally linked with the average life expectancy. Now a days, the institution of joint family has started disintegrating due to recent change in social values, social structure and economy resulting from industrialization and urbanization and consequent mobility, poverty, unemployment, under-employment and inflation have rendered the family members unable to discharge their duties to the aged. The generation gap is widening, the attitude of youngsters is now becoming more individualistic and unquestioned regard for authority and respect to the elders is vanishing. The constantly worsening economic situation makes it difficult for most of the families to make their both ends meet, consequently affecting the aged and their firm adversely, some of them who are neglected and frustrated that they are obliged to leave their famil ies and fend of themselves.

visits are also followed Establishing of family counseling centers.
