Streaming 24-hours a day from Watertown, Wisconsin, the CowCam will take viewers inside Never Rest Dairy farm where husband and wife co-owners Troy and Ashley Schlender have a new free stall barn where robots milk their Holstein cows. Ashley says that their barn is the first in the United States to have two AMS-Galaxy robots in one barn. “I think it’s exciting to see how happy cows can be in their own comfortable barn,” says Ashley, adding, “We’re always looking for ways to help the consumer understand what really goes on in a farm.” Modern Farmer Founder and Editor-in-Chief Ann Marie Gardner adds “It’s addictive to watch real-time activities of animals and also to see a brand new farm technology in action. There is something wonderful and also wildly informative about watching dairy cows (and any of our animal cams for that matter). It gives us a much better understanding of where our milk comes from and the hard work involved.” Cow Week and the CowCam will launch Monday, September 8 th , 2014 at 12 AM EST and will continue through Friday, September 12 th at 8 PM EST. There will be two CowCam locations at Never Rest Dairy. The first will be located in a section of the barn where the cows relax, use the robo brush and drink water after milking. The second CowCam will be set up where cows go during, or shortly after, labor. Cow Week stories will explore the lives of cattle, cattle farming practices and technology, dairy farmers and cow myths.
