MODULE AIM - This course serves as an introduction to various concepts of human development across the entire lifespan. MODULE LEARNING OUTCOMES - The TAR UC module delivers to the appropriate level as follows: LO Ref Learning Outcome 1 Describe various theories of development.
2 Give an account of life span development from the physical, cognitive, and
socio-emotional aspect.
3 Describe the different research approaches used in the study of development.
4 Interpret various developmental stages through case studies.
ASSESSMENT SUITABILITY There are three assessments on this module: coursework assignment 1 (30% weighting), coursework assignment 2 (30%) and examination (40%). This is sufficient assessment for a module of this credit volume. A SHU assessment will be set in addition to the TAR UC assessments, to reflect the SHU teaching input to this module. COMMENTS REGARDING INDICATIVE CONTENT This is a comprehensive overview of lifespan development, organized sequentially into key developmental periods (e.g. infancy, childhood, adolescence). Content focuses on the main domains of development e.g. social, emotional, cognitive. This compares well with coverage of Developmental Psychology as a BPS core curriculum area. ANY ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS None.
