The workshops were designed and will be taught by undergraduates of Biological Sciences under the sponsorship the Fellowship Program for advancement of teachers under training -PIBID and the Graduate Program in Biochemistry, Federal University of Rio Grande North- UFRN. The workshops will take place in eight public schools, of which 5 are in Pureza Municipality (EM Nova Descoberta; EE Henrique Eufrásio; EE Jarbas Passarinho and MS Maria Antonia) and 4 are in Natal (State School Senador Dinarte Mariz, EE Nestor Lima, EE Edgar Barbosa, Celestino Pimentel). The goal of the workshops is to provide students and teachers with skills on the use of scientific knowledge to identify issues related to health, and to analyze and draw conclusions based on an understanding of biochemical, physiological and microbiological processes. The topics covered will include: enzymes as indicators of environmental pollution; the chemical digestion, acid digestion; protein supplementation and health; sexuality and hormonal activity; food and cholesterol; greenhouse effects; cigarette chemistry; nutrient cycling and biological rhythms. The workshops will take place over 4 days for a total of 16 hours. The participating students will present posters with the results of their activities. The posters will be displayed for visitation on TuesdayTuesdayTuesdayTuesday 21 June21 June21 June21 June from 4h to 6h pmfrom 4h to 6h pmfrom 4h to 6h pmfrom 4h to 6h pm, in the Morton Mariz de Faria the Centro de Convenções de Natal.
