To fear is one thing.  To let fear grab you by the tail and swing you around is another.

Admin News & Needs

Halloween Parade Details– o At 11:30, parents can begin signing in to the office and arriving at classrooms

to help students with their costumes. When they are finished helping, parents can head outside.

o At approximately noon, Jill will begin the parade upstairs with Santa Cruz, traveling down the hall, through the main building, collecting students, teachers, parading over to the H building to pick up the students, and parading out onto the yard. Team We Rock will put a copy of the Parade Route in your boxes sometime this week.

o Unlike the past, students will not walk through a spiral on the yard. They will follow the route on the map you’ll receive, ending up at their Town Hall spots when they get outside.

o Rain contingency plan – we will parade into the Gym and line up in indoor Town Hall spots (Indoor Town Hall Map will also be placed in your box sometime next week.)

o Once on the yard, Ms. Roth, CAL, and Mr. K will lead the school in various musical and dance entertainment.

Simple Pleasures…

When asked for the reason that she would like to play the drums (CELDT test speaking question,) Kiara from 2nd grade told me, "Because drumming brings your happiness out." Ms. Wendy S.

When asked why she was late to school that day, a second grade student answered, “Because I was stuck in the bathroom.” (Don’t we all?) Angelica

Jesus Hernandez has a fake bloody foot in his backpack.  He pulled it out in line one morning and I was speechless. ~ Siobhan

Principal’s Notes

Across the country this coming week, we celebrate the creepy, crawly, sneaky, and spooky, and for many in our Monarch community and beyond, the Day of the Dead, to boot! Why not take the opportunity to stare fear in the face while we’re celebrating it? Katherine Paterson’s quote this week encourages us that a state of fear can lead to healthy growth. What fears are grabbing your tail? What can you… a teammate…your lead… your principal do to help you not get swung around?
