WHAT THE HECK IS AN ARCHETYPE?

A prototype is a model for something

Ex: “Rumor has it that the new iPhone 5 prototype is made of alloy.”

So an archetype is...a list of traits that creates a model for the typical hero.

WHO IS: JOSEPH CAMPBELL

Joseph Campbell is a doctor of mythology who was smart enough to figure out that almost every story about a hero takes the same type of journey.

IN FACT: Almost every hero has very similar character traits.
