News Briefs Construction Update

MCWD opened its P10.6-million state-of-the-art water reservoir on July 24, 2014, to serve nearly 4,000 households in Barangay Guadalupe, including homeowners of Monterrazas de Cebu. The inauguration was led by MCWD Board

member Eugene Elizalde. Engineered for performance, this water tank uses glass-fused-to-steel technology and is designed based on international standards.

PLDT, the leading telecommunications company in the Philippines, will be bringing its fast and reliable services to the township of Monterrazas de Cebu. Last July 10, 2014, an agreement was signed between PLDT and GENVI, granting

installation of telecommunications facilities such as fiber optic cables and Network Access Points within the subdivision’s premises for Internet, landline, digital TV, and other PLDT services.

GENVI Awards Early Construction Incentive to New HomeownersChristmas came early this year as Cebu’s largest premier mountainside resort community Monterrazas de Cebu awarded its newest homeowners, Mr. Roberto and Mrs. Lilibeth Cunanan, with an early construction incentive amounting to P300,000 last August 26, 2014.

The early construction incentive is a most welcome housewarming gesture from GENVI Development Coporation as homeowners move in to their newly finished homes at the urban township.

Launched last September 2012, cash incentives of P500,000 await each of the

first ten homeowners to complete house construction at The Peaks, the community at the highest elevation of Monterrazas de Cebu. And P300,000 will be given to each of the first ten buyers to complete construction of their new homes at the NorthRidge community.

A certificate of completion will be issued by GENVI Development Corporation after the final inspection according to standards and requirements outlined in the Monterrazas

de Cebu construction guidelines. And within thirty days, the cash incentive will be released to the proud homeowners.

SUSTAINABILITYThe Heart of All That We Do

G ENVI has been at the forefront of promoting Sustainability in the region, with its long track record

of leading Sustainability by example.

In 2013, GENVI donated prime real estate to the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) to make clean water accessible for at least seven communities in the immediate vicinity of Monterrazas de Cebu, GENVI’s subdivision.

Pursuing sustainability through education, GENVI partnered with key government agencies. Firstly with the Department of Education (DepEd) in adopting the Banawa Elementary School, providing books, renovating classrooms and school buildings, feeding programs, and a secondary school scholarship grant. Then, with the Department of Social Welfare

and Development (DSWD), in setting up a Pre-School on a parcel of land that GENVI donated.

As a key private sector partner of the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) in the country, GENVI teamed up with the Young Heroes of Cebu (YHC) in implementing the “Safer School App” which is designed to assess schools’ preparations and security protocols in the event of a disaster.

GENVI also embarked on one of the city’s most ambitious Flood Prevention Programs. GENVI invested about P50 million in building 14 detention ponds to temporarily contain rainwater resulting from heavy downpours. Further, GENVI took responsibility for

rehabilitating inadequate drainage systems outside Monterrazas, and for laying larger and newer drain pipes that connect the development’s natural water waterways to existing city drains. With the detention ponds in place, rainwater is slowly released and directed towardsww the city’s drainage systems at a rate consistent with what can be absorbed. Flooding in the lowlands is minimized if not prevented.

Sustainability indeed is deeply ingrained in GENVI’s DNA as a land development company. O N April 5, 2014, GENVI further cemented its commitment to sustainability with the “Search for My Sustainable Cebu Champions” among Barangays Guadalupe, Buhisan, Tisa and Sapangdaku.

The activity kicked off with the cleanup of Linap Creek in Barangay Guadalupe. Over 100 sacks of garbage from the creek were collected and properly disposed of by barangay residents and officials, volunteers, and GENVI employees, in a symbolic initiative to create a riverside environment that is clean, disaster-proof and sustainable.

The “Search for My Sustainable Cebu Champion” empowers the local communities to reduce disaster risks and uplift the lives of its constituents through sustainable projects that are easy to implement and replicate.

At the end of the year, a Champion Barangay and a Champion Purok will be selected based on the threefold programs of My Sustainable Cebu: My Sustainable Natural Resources (Water and Forest Renewal), My Sustainable Livelihood (Urban Farming and Trash to Cash) and My Sustainable Health and Home (Nutrition and Disaster Risk Reduction).

At the launch, GENVI donated industrial grade waste receptacles to the identified barangays for proper waste segregation.

Through the “Search for My Sustainable Cebu Champion”, GENVI aims to uplift the lives of the communities surrounding its township by providing opportunities for transformation and sealing their commitment towards a sustainable Cebu.
