Wildcats to compete at national championshipBy HEATHER FIORE

    The Sun

    Montgomerys own Pop Warn-

er Midget cheerleaders the Wild-cats will compete at the nationalchampionship on Dec. 13 at Dis-ney World.

The Wildcats are a group of 30girls in seventh and eighth grade. This particular team competed inthe national championship twoyears ago, where it won the na-tional title, something coachRenee DePinto hopes to repeatagain this year.

This is all or nothing, shesaid. In high school, youll get acouple of preliminary rounds, but this is a one-shot deal.

DePinto said the girls won boththe state and regional champi-onships, which is what advancedthem to the nationals at DisneyWorld.

The New Jersey State Champi-onship was held on Nov. 3, wherethe girls beat two teams to ad-vance to the Eastern RegionalCompetition held in Albany, N.Y.,on Nov. 17, where they beat five of

the best teams in the state. The girls did the same 2 1/2-

minute routine for both competi-tions, something theyve workedhard on since they began in thesummer, DePinto said.

We maximize the difficultyfrom the beginning, let thempractice throughout the summer, and then build on what they've

With the Montgomery Commu-nity Energy Aggregation pro-gram in full swing, residents nowhave the ability to save money ontheir utility bills, with the possi-bility of added benefits, such ashigher renewable energy contentand other programs, officials

    said.The MCEA, which officially

went into effect on Nov. 14, is aprogram that allows the township

to conduct a bulk purchase of en-ergy through a public biddingprocess to offer to residents andbusinesses at discounted prices, according to Tammy Garaffa, community information officer.

By now, all residents who arecustomers of PSE&G should havereceived a letter dated Nov. 7 indi-cating that, unless they opted outin seven days, their electric sup-

ply provider will now be Consoli-dated Edison Solutions, Inc.

Because of the complexity ofthe change, Garaffa said town-

ship officials want to ensure allresidents are properly informedabout the MCEA.

Billing will continue to be onyour usual single monthly mail-ing from PSE&G, she said. Allservicing, meter reading, mainte-nance of equipment, outage re-pairs, etc. will still be throughPSE&G, who will continue to as-sess a delivery charge, as always,

    POLICE REPORT

    Thanksgiving has passed. Left-

    overs have been consumed.

    And end-of-the-year holiday

    decorations are being proudly dis-

    played.

Here at Elauwit, that means only

one thing its time to get rolling on

Deck the Paws and Help a Collie. For newcomers, Deck the Paws and

Help a Collie is our annual animal

shelter drive. The unusual name is a

really bad play on Deck the Halls

with Boughs of Holly. Indeed, more

animals than just collies are helped by

    the drive.

    Heres how it works:

    Our generous drop-spot locations

have volunteered to place a donation

tub in their office. You can visit the of-

fice and drop off aid to animal shelters

and rescue groups. Theyre alwayslooking for dog and cat food, cat litter,

    cleaning supplies (especially bleach),

    office supplies, gift cards, blankets,

bedding and, of course, treats and

    toys.

The 2013 version of our holiday

drive is in full force. This year, we have

five locations that will serve as drop

spots, or donation centers. These are

places that have volunteered to place a

tub in their lobbies or otherwise allow

people to visit them to make dona-

    tions.

    This years drop spots are:

    Oldies & Goodies, 101 W. Merchant

    St., Audubon

Cherry Hill Volvo, 1810 Route 70

    West, Cherry Hill

    Elauwit, 108 Kings Highway East,

    tal, 104 Kings Highway, Moorestown

    Holman Toyota-Scion, 1301 Route

    73 North, Mt. Laurel

Every year, we deliver dozens of car-

loads of food, toys, cleaning supplies

and more to local shelters. We want to

    do the same this year.

But it all begins with you and your

    generosity.

Help us help animals in need this

    holiday season.
