On Friday aſternoon the Broken Hill City Council dropped off the Life Educaon van and the class lessons have commenced today. It has been a few years since Healthy Harold visited Morgan Street and I know that everyone is excited to see our friend visit again. This Friday we have our athlecs carnival track events being held at Picton Oval. There is rain forecast at this stage for Friday so we will wait and see how it develops over the week before making a decision. The current COVID guidelines dont allow for parents or families to aend school events. We will do our best to capture the day through photos and videos. We know that it certainly isnt the same and nothing replaces being there and sharing the special moments with your children. As part of our COVID plan for the day we will not be able to have any visitors to the oval or surrounds within the Picton Oval area. Any visitors will be asked to leave. We are currently taking enrolments for kinder for 2021. At this stage we are not able to have our new kinders for next year on site for transion. We are hoping this may change for next term and this will probably not be known unl next term. We are looking at different ways to connect with our newest students and families in preparaon for 2021. The end of the school day is a busy me and there is an increase in traffic and people around our school. Can I please ask families to talk with your child about the safe use of the pedestrians crossings. At mes students run across the crossings assuming that it is always going to be safe. Our final day for Term 3 is Friday 25th September. Students and staff return to school for Term 4 on Monday 12th October 2020. There is no staff development day at the start of Term 4. Learning for all at Morgan Street Welcome to the second last week of the term. On Friday afternoon the Broken Hill City Council dropped off the Life Education van and the class lessons have commenced today. It has been a few years since Healthy Harold visited Morgan Street and I know that everyone is excited to see our friend visit again.

This Friday we have our athletics carnival track events being held at Picton Oval. There is rain forecast at this stage for Friday so we will wait and see how it develops over the week before making a decision. The current COVID guidelines don’t allow for parents or families to attend school events. We will do our best to capture the day through photos and videos. We know that it certainly isn’t the same and nothing replaces being there and sharing the special moments with your children. As part of our COVID plan for the day we will not be able to have any visitors to the oval or surrounds within the Picton Oval area. Any visitors will be asked to leave.

We are currently taking enrolments for kinder for 2021. At this stage we are not able to have our new kinders for next year on site for transition. We are hoping this may change for next term and this will probably not be known until next term. We are looking at different ways to connect with our newest students and families in preparation for 2021.

The end of the school day is a busy time and there is an increase in traffic and people around our school. Can I please ask families to talk with your child about the safe use of the pedestrians crossings. At times students run across the crossings assuming that it is always going to be safe.

Our final day for Term 3 is Friday 25th September. Students and staff return to school for Term 4 on Monday 12th October 2020. There is no staff development day at the start of Term 4.

  • Jack crawled into the tunnel with his best friend, Amy behind right him. They make their way through the

dark, steep tunnel. Jack’s hand comes into contact with a cold, damp piece of metal. Touching the metal

makes the tunnel turn into a steep hill. Jacks hand slips and he begins to fall taking Amy down with him.

Their hearts are pounding as they brace themselves for a hard landing on top of rough rocks. To their

surprise however they land on a soft mattress.

    By Lani Wolstenholme

I crawled around the kitchen counter. My brother was chasing me which made me frightened. The dust

from the floorboards made me need to sneeze. If I sneezed he would spot me.

I was on the bottom of the ocean. It was dark and scary. I’m on my knees, crawling on the sand, rocks

and coral scratching my shins. My oxygen tank is almost empty. “I this it?”, I think to myself. I wish I was

in my warm, cozy, comfortable home. I’m scared. There is coral and rocks everywhere, fish swimming in

    schools. Suddenly I hear a click….

    By Lucas Sultana

I’m sprinting, I only have ten seconds to hide! The wind is blowing hard as I run. She was coming. I

looked around to see where I could hide. I see what looks like a waterfall but it’s a water fall of leaves

dangling off a large, old oak tree. I run over and crawl inside. It was the best hiding spot ever! I was

definitely going to win now. I can hear Riley walk past yelling my name……

    By Shavanah Miller

Smack! I ran into the bully of the school, Randy. My heart was beating as fast as it possibly could. He

started to chase me all around the school. My legs started to feel like jelly. Luckily, I found a hole that I

could crawl into. It led to me to be under my classroom. It was dark and filled with old, wrinkly leaves.

My breath came in long pants as I crawled, and the leaves are prickling my legs and hands. Suddenly I

heard a croaky voice behind me, “Welcome back!”

    By Lee-Min Sheehan

I was crawling, my heart was pounding. Can I get to safety? I was using up all the energy I had left. My

muscles ached and my pace was getting slower and slower. The spikey bushes around me were making

me bleed. My body was telling me to stop but I had to get to the doomsday shelter. Little did I know I

    was going the wrong way.

On Tuesday the 25th of August, 5A was lucky enough

to have author Jane Carroll come into the classroom

and have a writing workshop with us. To finish off our

session we did a writing activity that had to use the

word ‘crawled’. Some of the students wanted to

    share their writing with you.
