What’s the Plan?
Now that Pastor James, our youth and prayer guy, has resigned, this is a question that people are asking. Here’s the answer.
In January 2018, we will hire a replacement for Pastor James. Pastors Jody and Ian are in the process of talking with leaders, parents and teens to determine what this might look like.
In the meantime, Marshall Schettler has agreed to be part of the church staff as a half-time INTERN reporting to Pastor Jody. Marshall will recruit and schedule leaders for weekly programming as well as continue the Youth Leadership Team.
Please contact any one of the pastors for more info.

BIG-PICTURE BUDGET PARTY
Calling all Ministry Team Leaders and Members! WFMC Budget time is approaching fast! We will be having our annual Big-Picture Budget Party on Monday Sept 11 at 7pm, and we will need all of you to join us as we dream and pray together and begin building the plan and the budget for 2018. PLEASE put this on your calendar and plan to come if you are on a ministry team or lead one.
STAFF NOTES: Pastor Ian is on vacation from Aug 28-Sep 1.
D O U B L E B A B Y S H O W E R Sunday, September 10th, 2:30 pm, WFMC HALL
Teri Baird and baby Blake Megan Schick and baby Emily
Donations to a group gift to Evelyn Sollosy or Serena Copley on Sundays or to the office during the week. Available until
Wednesday, September 6.
It has been our custom to hold a shower for first babies born when
people have begun attending WFMC, even though there are other children in the family. Because Emily is a second daughter, her Mom,
Megan, feels as though they have everything they need. She would appreciate donations to the Joan Project in place of buying gifts.
YOUTH CENTRE NEWS: Every fall for the past
number of years, the Weyburn Youth Centre has held their Annual Fundraising Banquet and Auctions. This year they would like to
announce that they have been accepted as one of the partnering agencies of the Weyburn United Way. Because of this WYC has had to change the date of their Annual Banquet so as not to conflict with
Communithon, Weyburn United Way’s major fundraiser for the year. Currently the plans are to reschedule this fundraiser to February or March of 2018. This past year has been one of challenges and much
stretching as our finances have been very low. We are thankful to have been accepted into the Weyburn United Way, and we encourage
you to support them in their efforts. We would ask you to continue to pray for us and the state of our finances and if you are able to help us out monetarily it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your
understanding and both your prayers and financial support during this time. God bless! ---Brian Hopfe, Executive Director
Congratulations to Janice & Carl Dyck on the birth of their new grandson, Atley Peter Ernest Bagwell, son of Chris & Robin
Bagwell. He was born strong & healthy in Regina at 8 lb, 5 oz, 21 inches long.
COMMUNITY UPCOMING EVENTS Fundraising BBQ in the Park: Sunday, August 27th, 4:00 pm-7:00 pm, River Park, Weyburn. Burgers & Hotdogs for sale. Proceeds to Weyburn Humane Society; as well, please bring donations of non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army Food Bank. Music by “Private Drive.”
Sacred Pathways #9: Enthusiast
August 27, 2017 – Pastor Jay
The heart of an enthusiast:
Enthusiasts love God through mystery and celebration. These
people worship with outward displays of passion and enthusiasm.
They love God with gusto!
Key word: PASSION
Key Scripture: Psalm 150
The ways of an enthusiast:
Celebratory worship
Embracing the supernatural aspects of the Christian faith
Giving thanks to God
Cautions for an enthusiast:
Your emotions are not always accurate indicators of the truth. Dry
spells are not indications of God’s judgement, but rather of the
truth of emotional life – what goes up must come down!
Your pursuit of a “good” worship experience may lead you to
avoid practices and churches that would help you grow.
Exploring this pathway:
1. Take risks in worship by letting your body express the truth of
the songs. Sing freely, raise your hands, clap, dance!
2. Cultivate the mystery of expectancy: ask God to bring someone
in your path to whom you can minister; start a conversation with a
stranger
3. Spend time with children: lead music at children’s church; act
out Bible stories for them at VBS
