JESUS Y LA LEY
En la continuación del Sermón de la Montaña, Jesús explica como él interpreta la Ley de Moisés. Jesús insiste que él ha venido a cumplir la ley no a abolirla. Él repite la frase “Ustedes han escuchado que se dijo…” y contrastando dice “pero yo les digo…” No se conforma con denunciar el homicidio, la mentira o el adulterio. Él va al origen del homicidio: el odio, el resentimiento, el rencor. Jesús menciona la importancia de una vida casta. Él aclara en qué consiste el adulterio; mencionando cómo los varones utilizan la ley para hacer de la mujer una propiedad y deshacerse de ella y del vínculo del matrimonio. Sus palabras promueven la fidelidad mutua. Aquellos que lo escuchan y lo siguen cumplen la Ley en su totalidad y no solo unas partes, pues las consecuencias son claras y severas. Los niños están viendo y por su edad, ignorancia o circunstancia son vulnerables. Ellos dependen de las palabras y acciones de las personas maduras y sabías, a los niños no se les traiciona. GIVE BETTER THAN YOU RECEIVE
Jesus’ words in today’s Gospel continue to contrast the Jewish law and practice with the practice of the followers of Jesus. Today’s Gospel continues with slight variations the formulation: “You have heard . . .” and “What I say to you is . . .” The old laws of retaliation were once created to soften the severe and vengeful retaliations common among the peoples that surrounded the struggling people of God. The would-be followers of Jesus again feel surrounded by people bent on retaliation. So Matthew presents Jesus, who asks his followers not only not to retaliate at all but to “turn the other cheek.” He asks that his listeners give the one who asks more than he or she seeks. Jesus asks us to love and pray for those of our home country and the alien, the ones who love us and the ones who hate us. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

the members of this parish see a brand new gift of God's perfect love.
No pregnant mother of any age should feel alone or afraid because of the unexpected blessing of a child. Volunteers from parishes throughout our diocese are ready to stand beside any mother who needs help and to personally care for her throughout her pregnancy and beyond.

Hospital and Skilled Nursing Facilities Ministry
Many of those confined in the Regional Hospital and residents of the Skilled Nursing Facilities in the Eastside of San Jose are in need of a Catholic presence to bring the Eucharist to them, and to spend some pastoral time with them. If you are willing to give some of your time on a regular basis to bring God’s love and compassion to the sick, please consider this opportunity to serve. iPad Donations
Jesus and Me program for students with special needs, is grateful and thankful for the donations of some iPad’s towards the program, we would like to give thanks to the Zumba class for the donation of $400 dls for an iPad, which was purchased over the weekend. Once again, thank you Zumba for the donation. Also, we want to recognize the Hogan family, Sonia Ortiz, Cynthia Keene for their donations of iPad’s, thank you to their families for this sacrifice. Receive the gratitude from our students and may God continue to bless all.

Dear Parishioners of Most Holy Trinity Parish, Happy Saint Valentine's Day! We at the school hope you had a wonderful holiday with your family and friends celebrating your love for one another. Most Holy Trinity School has had many reasons to celebrate in the past few weeks. We recently finished our second round of MAP, or Measures of Academic Progress, testing. These adaptive assessments are conducted on computers or iPads and tailor their questions to each student's particular skill level as the test continues. We were overjoyed to see many of our students' scores rise from when they took the MAP test for the first time in October. Our students have also enjoyed watching and learning about the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Many teachers have incorporated the games into their lessons, particularly in math or social studies. Mrs. Smith's sixth-grade class has had an especially fun time learning from the Olympic Winter Games. The sixth graders have been working on a yearlong country project in which they are each assigned a country that they study and research in different capacities throughout the year. The Olympics have provided them with another avenue to learn about their particular nations. This upcoming week, Most Holy Trinity School will be closed for our winter break. But that does not mean there is nothing exciting coming up! On Monday, President's Day, the school will host Marathon Bingo in the gym. All are welcome to come compete during this full day of games. Most Holy Trinity Preschool
Thank you to all of the wonderful parishioners who have supported our preschool since opening in August of 2012. We are about halfway through our second year and we could not be more proud of what these young children are now able to accomplish. We are now working on our plan to expand the preschool from a maximum of 14 students at any time to 28 students at any time. We are starting the project in February to update the outside of the preschool to meet all of the necessary conditions given by the city. The rest of the project is going to be worked on over the summer. We are working on raising $85,000 over the next few months so that we can complete the project. We are hoping that parishioners will be able to come out to our fund raising events, such as the first bingo of every month, to help support the preschool project. For more than 10 years, the American Heart Association has sponsored National Wear Red Day® to raise awareness in the fight against heart disease in women. Feb. 7th was National Wear Red Day, but you can help fight women’s No. 1 killer—heart disease -- throughout the month of February. If you don’t have some of this information, schedule an appointment with your healthcare provider to get tested. Keep in mind that a positive score doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not at risk. Even one risk factor that isn’t treated can lead to a higher risk later in life.
