Closing Bell: BSE Sensex closed higher by 164 points, or 0.56%, to 29,332, while the Nifty 50 rose 56 points, or 0.62%, to 9,086. Sensex rose on Thursday tracking a recovery in global markets with energy shares leading the gains while financial and auto shares bounced back. The bounce-back is due to both global and local factors. Mutual funds are getting record-high inflows everyday. Flows have been very strong on both domestic and FII . Reliance Defence and Engineering Ltd shares rise 4.1%, Muthoot Finance Ltd shares rise 2.8%, Suzlon Energy Ltd shares rise 3.3%, InterGlobe Aviation Ltd shares rise 2.2%, Infibeam Corp. Ltd shares rise 1.3%, Max Financial Services Ltd shares rise 1.8% after NSE adds these companies to its derivatives segment. Delta Corp Ltd shares rise 1.5% to Rs179.70 after the company said it plans to raise Rs750 crore through issue of equity shares or other securities via qualified institutional placement. Hindustan Zinc Ltd shares rise 2.7% to Rs320 after the company said it as approved Special interim dividend of 1375% ie Rs27.50 per share of Rs2 each for the financial year 2016-17. Vedanta Ltd shares rise 2.1% to Rs266.40. Emami Infrastructure Ltd shares rise 8.1% to Rs81.20 after Emami Group has formed a partnership with Mumbai-based real estate firm Sheth Corp to develop a luxury residential project at Mumbai’s Mulund suburb. Kolkata-based Emami has invested Rs350 crore for a 50% stake in the project, said a press release issued by both the firms. Cairn India Ltd shares rise 2% to Rs296.90. (up 6.18 per cent) , Reliance Defence (up 7.07 per cent) , Akzo Nobel (up 7.44 per cent) , Electrosteel (up 8.33 per cent) , Sobha Ltd (up 9.89 per cent) , TVS Srichakra (up 10.30 per cent) , Bombay Burmah (up 11.06 per cent) , Sharda Motor (up 11.93 per cent) , ITI Ltd (up 19.21 per cent) are some of the stocks that were trading over 5 per cent higher. Sujana Towers (down -11.76 per cent) , Shekhawati Poly (down -10.00 per cent) , Euro Finmart (down -6.70 per cent) , Gangotri Text (down -5.88 per cent) , Northgate Com (down -5.88 per cent) , Lloyds Steels Industries Ltd. (down -5.56 per cent) and Dynacons Tech (down -5.00 per cent) are some of the stock that declined over 5 per cent in trade. Sujana Towers, Euro Finmart, Syncom Health, ANG Industries, Readymade Steel, KSS Ltd, KSK Energy Vent, Shekhawati Poly, Zenith Birla, FCS Software, Rasoya Proteins, VKS Projects touched their fresh 52-week low.

News: Creditors of India’s largest paper maker Ballarpur Industries Ltd may face

costly unintended consequences from punitive US duties on some of the company’s Asian competitors.

Cement sector is seeing early signs of increase in demand after a short-lived decline following demonetisation; the prices of the commodity are also seen rising.

NTPC Ltd., India’s biggest electricity producer, is seeking to buy the federal government’s stake in hydro-power producer SJVN Ltd. to boost the share of non-fossil fuel generation capacity.

Bank of India on Thursday said that it has sold its entire 5% stake in TransUnion Cibil to TransUnion International Inc., in a notification issued on the stock exchange.

TVS Motor, the two-wheeler major, said it would close this financial year, 2016-17 (ending this month), with a 14.3 per cent market share, close to its target of 15 per cent.

India’s government is likely to sell part of the stakes it holds in Axis Bank Ltd., ITC Ltd. and Larsen & Toubro Ltd. through an exchange-traded fund this year, people familiar with the matter said.

Highway developer Dilip Buildcon Ltd. has emerged as the successful bidder for road projects worth Rs 3,269 crore in Maharashtra, the company said in an exchange filing, The projects include 4-laning of Mahagaon to Yavatmal section of NH-361 (package II) on hybrid annuity mode at a project cost of Rs 1,160.64 crore and four-laning of Yavatmal.

Sunil Hitech Engineers Ltd. has won a Rs 982 crore highway project in Maharashtra to widen a stretch on NH 211.

Vedanta Resources Plc, informed the exchanges that the National Company Law Tribunal has given its approval to the company’s merger with Cairn India Ltd.

Shares of the chemical company BASF India Ltd. rose as much as 4.9 percent to Rs 1,275, the highest since February 2, 2017 on news that the company is planning to divest its leather chemical business to Luxembourg-based Stahl group for an undisclosed amount. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2017.

Shares of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. were trading higher between 1.9-3 percent ahead of their board meetings to consider interim dividend.

Shares of Anil Ambani-led Reliance Communications Ltd. gained after the Competition Commission of India approved the proposed sale of the tower division of its subsidiary Reliance Infratel Ltd. to Towercom Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., a unit of Brookfield Infrastructure Group.

Shares of the infra firm rose as much as 12 percent to Rs 108 after it emerged as the lowest bidder for a hybrid annuity model project to be awarded by the National Highway Authority of India.

The rupee strengthened by 5 paise to 65.39 per dollar in early trade on some selling of the U.S. currency by exporters and banks. Stock markets opening with gains also boosted the domestic currency.
