Whats Your Color For Christmas? Blue, Red or White?

And so it was Christmas again Last year I was gh6ng so hard to ll my soul with this awesome Christmas-coziness-feeling without any success! I even forced my French boyfriend to l o o k a t t h e L u c i a celebra6on on TV from Paris. This year, without even trying, Im lled with this childhood feeling! Every year my boyfriend calls me The Christmas-Dictator, and yes, when it comes to Christmas - there are no excep6ons! During my 5 years living in Paris I realized a big dierence on how the Parisians and Swedish people are preparing & celebra6ng Christmas. Paris is beau6ful by now, decora6ons everywhere in the streets and in the shops, but nobody is decora6ng their private h ome . Mo s t o f t h e Parisians dont even have a Christmas-tree (OMG!). In Sweden you have the feeling that every single individual is a huge -Christmas-fana6c.

Everything allready starts by the end of November Christmas tree, giY-shopping, candles everywere, whos gonna be Santa Claus this year? What dress

will I wear for christmas-eve - the day before the day aYer & the most importent: What will I wear for new years eve!?! And if you would like to stand against that everybody has to put up advent-candles in every window of your private home, your gonna have to live with the fact that you are going to be the societys li]le black sheep. It may sound absurd, but if I had to choose, I'll say Sweden. Cause what the f*! it's only Christmas once a year right? Marry Christmas & A Happy New Year!

MOUNETTEUNIVERSE.COM HAD A CRUSH ON ME

    ROBIN SVENSSON

  • S T O R E

Going for a walk, a cold typical Scandinavian November day, me and Emma went past this store named Boston that neither of us knew of. Curious as we are for new inspira6on and new garments, we went in. The decor of the store had a vintage feeling with a touch of Scandinavian clean interior design. It was a very friendly atmosphere where some trendy people were having coee and chatng with the store owner - a tall ta]ooed guy. Just by looking at him and what he had created, we lightly felt a few bu]eries in our stomach and a small li]le crush was growing stronger. We wanted to get to know him be]er, the guy behind the ta]oos and this undiscovered treasure The Boston Store. AYer talking to him for a few minutes we asked if he would like to meet up for a coee (or a classic Swedish Fika, cause thats what people do here when they hang out) and tell us more about what his does. So, some days later we met in a caf, armed with our camera and ques6ons. Robin is a cool and laid back person more than willing to share his ideas and dreams with Moune]e Universe.

GOING FOR A WALK A COLD NOVEMBER DAY Tell us about you, who is Robin?

Robin is the deni6on of a inspired person. My brain is in constant mo6on with ideas that I need to realize. It can be lyrics to a song, clothes, ac6vity, and how to ease world hunger! And it has been like this for as far as I can remember.

  • How come you opened The Boston STORE, have you done this Before, or you just followed your guts and did what you always wanted? There has always been a li]le dream and idea about having my own retail store since I started to work with retail back in 2008 at Jack & Jones. I wanted to run my own store where the individual and costumer is more important than the daily sales. Where smaller designers could be displayed and not get leY in the shadow by all the big brands and major chains that has conquered both the high streets and malls. A nice place to go to no ma]er if you just want to have a cha] or buy something unique and nice. I can not Be the only one wondering aBout your store name, do you have any relations to the city of Boston? (laughs) no, the ques6on have been asked before, and I wish there was some cool story behind the choice of name that included all sort of fun. The reality is that aYer I narrowed down my selec6on of names I realized that I wanted a name of a North American city and the choice fell on Boston because it just sounded good. But I will absolutely visit Boston some day and do something crazy so I can tell people some fun story about the name.

Robins Pet & Store Colleague, Lowe

How would you describe the style of your garments? Would you say That The Boston STORE is a concept, a lifestyle? The majority of the clothes are basic with a twist, also some, as I call it, "shut-up clothes" (garments that stand out from the crowd). Boston is as much a concept as a lifestyle. For me it is obviously a lifestyle! Your focus is on smaller designers, local ones? You also have a vintage corner, where do you get your garments from? That is correct. I want to highlight the amazing brands that exist in Sweden and Copenhagen and give the costumer the opportunity to enjoy them without having to pay a fortune. Since vintage is a personal passion of mine, it was obvious that I would have it in my store. The vintage garments are handpicked and carefully selected from all over the world. I nd them when I travel, on the internet, and so on. Who is your typical costumer Buying from Boston STORE ? You also have a online store right?

That is the fun with having basic and more carefully selected garments, you do not get that "typical costumer". It ranges from school teenagers to older lawyers, and I love that there is such a va r i a6on on the costumers. Correct, and thanks to our web shop we can now reach people who maybe do not have the possibility to visit my store. So we have costumers from all over the country and also from outside of Sweden. We love to have a great time at Mounette Universe, let's say we came in and gave you a Bag of money and said: "RoBin, me and Emma are Bored, entertain us!" what kind of party would you throw? Wow, fantas6c thought! I would go crazy and over the top with everything into the last detail. I would rent a cruiser ship, submarine helicopter, select a random des6na6on on the map and just go there. Instead of listening to lame music we would hire our favorite ar6sts/bands that would entertain us non-stop. Loads of good alcohol, food and all the crazy lovely people we know.

  • And the day after you would take us to do some shopping, and have dinner and drinks. We happen to have a private jet at our disposal, come on Robin blow our minds, where do you take us? New York, without the shadow of a doubt. Maybe a very standard and mainstream answer to your ques6on but true. There is everything for everyone, and for someone with the passion for fashion it is like pure paradise. And by now you are the Master of magical retail land, where you can open a store with anything you wish because my bag of money is endless. How would it be, the store of your dreams? (except for Boston STORE of course) Oh wow, it would be a two-storey store with a oor for women and the other one for men. Every oor would have amazing decora6on and interior design with a vintage vibe to it, and a good DJ of course that would play loads of sweet music. I would sell all the best brands and have the exclusive rights to them!

Thank you for letting Mounette Universe get to know you and Boston STORE, any final words of future dreams, Robin? the pleasure was all on my side, absolutely fun! The future will be as it intends to, you never know for sure and can not plan it. I will stay in retail, that is for sure!

Robins friend Joel is hanging in the store.
