Every piece of moving image we produce will be different in theme, content, and format.
Each one can be unique as long as the look, personality, and voice reflect our “brand at a glance.” See page 7.
Shown here are some guidingprinciples to help you in the creation of moving imagery.
A specifically designed video toolkit has also been created, which includes start and end frames, animated logo identifier and guidance on when to use these elements to ensure consistency across our videos.
The core message of your moving image should originate from our “brand at a glance” see page 7, and remain consistently focused on the learner.
Message
Together we’ll be pioneers
Footage should follow the photography principles on page 50-51. Ensure we have global rights and always credit filmmakers/photographers when using their work. See page 56.
Video footage
As a starting point, when creating animations, you should consider the Pearson approved illustrators on page 59. Ensure we have global rights and always credit artists/animators when using their work. See page 60.
Animations
All written content and scripts for moving images should feel distinctly Pearson, originating in tone from our “brand at a glance” and following our brand voice principles. See page 7. Any voiceovers used must be clearly audible above the music.

Music
Music should be clear with a simple beat that will also be easy to animate. Look for changes in pace and moments of climax to help emphasize key points in the footage. When purchasing music clips/tracks, be aware that royalty fees will apply. Play background music at least 20 decibels quieter than the voiceover.

Use only the Pearson typefaces and always ensure that the type colors adhere to the accessibility colorways. For guidance, see page 43.
When creating moving imagery, follow accessibility standards for including captions for access without sound and including narration or alternative text for access without sight. See page 8.
Moving imagePrinciples

Pace and movement are key to engaging with your audience. Moving imagery should never be static or rushed; words should be read comfortably. Using a variety of mixed media e.g., animation and live footage, can help create excitement and add interest. Make sure moving imagery never blinks or flickers and always provide a pause or stop button for any moving elements.
Always use the correct assets from the video toolkit at the start and end of your video to ensure consistency. Never animate the Pearson logo or create alternative end frames.
