The Art courses here at PVHS have been tailor-made to make sure you succeed.

If you are a natural born artist, or have only mastered the stick figure, you will learn from the

past and prepare for the future.

# 1: RESPECT for the Classroom

• Attendance: – You must be here for 60 out of the 90 minutes to

be counted present for the day.– Any absences over 5 results in a loss of credit for

the class.• Tardies:– If you are not inside the classroom when the bell

rings, you are tardy!– After 4 tardies, you will receive an after school

detention.

Being “close” or “almost there”

still counts as a tardy.

Bathroom Passes

• Class break:– Each class will have a 5 minute break near the 45

minute period (except during 2nd lunch).– Students will be able to use the restroom during

this period. • Hall Passes:– Students will be able to use the restroom or

retrieve something from their locker up to 4 times per semester outside the break period.

– After your passes are gone, you may substitute a hall pass for a 15 minute detention.

No exceptions to the hall pass rule.

Even if you do this. Use your passes wisely.

Seating

• Be in your seat with your supplies when the tardy bell rings.

• You may leave from your seat once I have dismissed the class.

• DO NOT stand at the door and wait (once you have put up your materials).

OFF LIMITS AREAS:

• My Office• The Supply Closet• All cabinets and storage areas• Kiln Room• Book bag drop off after class begins• Outside of the classroom

FOOD, DRINK, & CANDY

ARE NOT ALLOWED!

FOOD, DRINK, & CANDY

ARE NOT ALLOWED!-Water is the only acceptable drink.

If you are caught with food, drink & candy then you must dispose of it immediately or receive a discipline

referral.

Eat your food in the cafeteria!

#2: RESPECT for tools & Materials

• Throughout the course of the semester, you will be using a variety of different tools & materials.

• Some of the materials are relatively inexpensive, others are very costly.

Supplies

• Art Foundations, Art II, Art III, Art Honors– Supply Boxes– You are responsible for your box and the supplies

inside of it.– Check the contents of your box daily.

Computer Use

• In Class laptops– Only use your number.– Do not change any settings.– Do not open any programs we aren’t currently

using. – Clean your screen after each usage.– Failure to follow these will result in a loss of

privilege.

Don’t do this.

Digital Cameras & Lights

• All cameras should be used only in the classroom.

• No cameras may be taken overnight.• Camera straps should be worn around the

wrist at all times.• Any student using the camera is responsible

for damages to it.

Vandalism

• If you deliberately scratch, destroy, vandalize, bend, or break any objects or materials in the classroom, you will receive:– A discipline referral– A bill for replacement costs– A loss of privileges for using materials

Don’t destroy anything!

Clean-Up & Storage

• All materials should go back in their proper location for ease of use and access for other students.

• Desks should be clean and free of trash, materials, etc.

• You are responsible for your area and your supplies (No one else has access to your boxes or folders).

Keep it Clean!

#3: RESPECT for Others• Your ability to treat others with respect

determines how well you will succeed in this class and in life.

Don’t be like her.

Preparation

• Bring your supplies to class every day.– Wooden Pencil, Folder, etc.

• Check the board for Assignments• Pick up additional supplies or handouts from

the counter.• Return your materials to their proper location.• Remain quiet while I’m taking roll.

Preparation• Put your bookbag, purse, and cellphone in the

bookbag area at the beginning of class.

This is what the room feels like with your stuff everywhere.

Everyone needs room to walk.

Talking and No Talking

• Absolutely no talking while I am lecturing or calling role.

• You can talk quietly at other times unless I tell you otherwise.

Automatic Detentions/Referrals

• PROFANITY• Fighting• Throwing Anything (This includes paper).• Disrespectful behavior to me or another

student.• Destroying , writing on, or carving into any

piece of furniture or classroom material.

Discipline Process

• For most incidents, the process will follow this pattern:-1st Warning-Detention Assigned-Student Referral-Parent Contact

#4: RESPECT for Yourself!

• Your success in the classroom is dependent on your ability to do the following things:– Show up to Class!– Pay attention in class.– Make up work promptly.– Ask questions if you are confused.

No Coasting!

You have to actively participate.

Time, Knowledge, & Effort

• Time to learn the information and apply it• Knowledge to grow as an artist and a person• Effort to pursue that knowledge
