WHAT ARE GUIDELINES?

Classroom guidelines are those routines, or patterns of behavior, that we will follow each day in class.

These routines are intended to help make our classroom an efficient, productive, and positive learning environment for everyone.

You actually follow guidelines everyday: To open your locker, you have to select your combination as directed by the lock manufacturer. To place a call on your phone, you need to enter the number in the right order.

Page 8: MRS. WATT MATHEMATICS HIGH SCHOOL. MRS. WATT MATHEMATICS MIDDLE SCHOOL

WHEN YOU ENTER THE CLASSROOMYou will go to your desk quietly and seat down, Check if you pencil need to be sharpened (this is

the time to sharpen your pencil if needed).Put your homework, and make up work on the

right corner of your desk. Write down your new homework assignment in

your agenda. Start on the bell work assignment (all information

for this assignment will either be on the board or overhead projector).

Page 9: MRS. WATT MATHEMATICS HIGH SCHOOL. MRS. WATT MATHEMATICS MIDDLE SCHOOL

IN THE CLASSROOM GUIDELINES

You will bring all books and materials to class and take them with you when you leave.

On any assignments (bell work, homework, test, quiz, portfolio…), you will follow the example post in the classroom (Paper Heading).

About 7 minutes after the bell has rung, we will quickly go over the bell work assignment (We will go over the answers and you will grade your own paper).

You will keep the noise level down; there is a traffic light on the wall next to the board: Arrow on Red means “No Talking” except when the teacher interacts with you , Arrow on Orange means “Talk in Whispers”, and Arrow on green means” Talk in your Indoor Voice”.

IN THE CLASSROOM GUIDELINES

If you need to talk, ask a question or move in the classroom, you will raise your hand. There might be some situations when this procedure will not apply (group work, emergency drill…). The TEACHER will let you know when a change in that procedure occurs.

Ask questions related to the subject. Other questions which are not related to the subject should be written down and asked after instruction.

After instruction, make sure you understand the concept. If not, ask questions by mentioning which part you didn’t understand.

If I want your attention, I will raise my hand, each of you will raise their hand as well, and you will stop talking and focus your attention on me.

If I am late or absent, I count on you to follow these procedures as if I were present. You are responsible young men and young women; I know you will make me proud.

The end of the class bell ring is a signal for the teacher that the class is over. Please remind in your seats until I dismiss you. Do not start packing until the teacher tell you to do so.

If you have a scheduled check-out (for example a doctor appointment), please let me know as I greet you at the entrance door. When it is time to go, quietly raise your hand to get my attention, quietly pack your material and quietly leave the room.
