Transport – How to get there

Step 1: From Monash University Clayton Bus Terminal to Huntingdale Station

Time: 5:40pm Location: Monash University Bus Loop (E2 of the Monash Campus Map) Bus Number: 601 – Monash University to Huntingdale Station Bus Departure Time: 5:50pm Details: There will be Host Scheme leaders who will be waiting at this bus stop, and who will be travelling on the bus with you.

If you are late: The 601 – Monash University to Huntingdale Station Bus departs every 4 minutes – if you are late there will be no Host Scheme leaders to travel with you, unless you decide to wait and travel with the second group.

Step 2: Huntingdale Station to Richmond Station

Train Departing: 6:11pm

If the bus is late, you are able to take the 6:26pm or 6:35pm train Location: Platform 1 (Train moving towards the city) Train Line: Either the Cranbourne or Pakenham line, but must be moving towards the city. Details: If you are meeting us at Huntingdale Station, please be at the station by 6pm

If you are late:

1. If you are late there will be no Host Scheme leaders to travel with you. 2. Make sure you are on Platform 1 and that the train is moving towards Melbourne City. 3. The train will arrive every 10-15 minutes.

Step 3: Richmond Station to Glenferrie Station

Train Departing: 6:36pm

If you have been delayed, you are able to take the 6:44pm, 6:46pm or 6:52pm train. Location: Platform 9 or 10 (Look at television screens to make sure the train is stopping at Glenferrie Station) Train Line: Either Lilydale, Belgrave, Blackburn or Alamein line – moving away from the city (Note – the Glen Waverley line trains depart from the same platform, however do not stop at Glenferrie. Do not catch this train) Details: If you are meeting us at Richmond Station, please be at the station by 6:30pm. You must purchase a Myki before you can board the train

If you are late:

stations. 3. The train will arrive every 3-8 minutes. 4. If you feel that you are lost or on the wrong platform, just look at the television screens on the

train platform and make sure the train is moving away from the city – Random changes do happen!

Note - Eureka Skydeck is a very popular activity, in order to ease congestion there will be

several groups attending at different times, your hosts will assist you in regards to which group

you will be allocated to. Some groups may visit the Skydeck first, then enjoy dinner, others may

have dinner first, then visit the Skydeck.

the night to meet up with the other group. ● New Guernica is an Alice in Wonderland themed bar that encompasses many of the unique

o $13 for entry, and an optional extra $10 for ‘The Edge’ experience o Please bring exact change for this, as we will need to collect it in order to pay for the

o Extra money in case you wish to purchase something at the markets ● Weather appropriate clothing and/or an umbrella:

o As this is Melbourne and the weather is unpredictable, it may get cold at night – you may wish to bring a jacket, as we will be mostly walking between venues.

o It is advised that students check the Bureau of Meteorology website (http://www.bom.gov.au) to check whether there is any chance of rain.

o It is also worth noting that for students who wish to enter New Guernica or any other licensed venue at any point that thongs/flip flops are not sufficient footwear.

● Myki o Myki cards can be purchased and topped up at train stations, 7 elevens and some trams o Please purchase and top up with money before the night, as there will likely be a long

queue at the Monash University Clayton Bus Loop ● Money for a taxi home

If the bus is late, you are able to take the 6:26, 6:32 or 6:43 train. Please note that for some trains, getting to Flagstaff Station will require changing trains at Flinders St Station for another one that travels through the City Loop.

A typical Thursday night for a Monash Clayton student consists of dinner and socialising with friends.

What you need:

Transport – How to get there

Sir John’s Bar

Sir John’s Bar is located on Monash Clayton campus. Host Scheme leaders will be at Sir John’s Bar from 5:45pm. If you would like a Host to escort you to the Nott for Dinner, please meet the Host Scheme leaders in Sir John’s Bar and make your interest known to Allie (Host Scheme Activities Sub-Coordinator). Allie or another Host Scheme leader will escort you to the Nott.

From Sir John’s Bar to The Notting Hill Hotel Departing Time: 8:30pm

Details: There will be Host Scheme leaders in Sir John’s Bar, who will walk with you to the Notting Hill Hotel, leaving at 8pm. If you are late, you will be expected to walk to the Notting Hill Hotel on your own

Other Information

Proof of Age Evidence of age documents are used to show a person is over 18 years of age and is legally able to be sold a knife. The best way to protect yourself against committing an offence is to sight one of the following evidence of age documents:

● A driver’s licence which includes: ● A Victorian driver’s licence ● A Victorian motorcycle licence ● An interstate driver’s licence (bearer must be 18 years or over) ● A Victorian learner’s permit (bearer must be 18 years or over)

● An Australian or foreign passport ● A Proof of Age card

Proof of Age cards are issued by the Director of Liquor Licensing and are accepted as evidence of proof of age for the purchase of alcohol.
