1 General Description of SOP

Purpose

Install the EMS of MSG9000.

Prerequisites

The local EMS and Server 129 are installed on the same server. The server has been installed with Windows 2003 Server Chinese version + SP2 patch, and SQL Server 2005 Chinese version.

Procedure Description

Perform the installation of local EMS according to Chapter 2 and 3. For the installation of client software on remote EMS server, refer to Chapter 4.

2 Netnumen Server Software Installation

2.1 Overview

This chapter introduces the installation and configuration of NetNumen software and database on the server.

2.2 NetNumen Software Installation

Purpose

Set up the software program part of NetNumen NM server to make it able to manage NEs and serve the NetNumen client.

Prerequisites

Windows 2003 Server Chinese version and SQL Server 2005 Chinese version have been installed.

Procedure Description

1. Unzip the NetNumenN31-V4 software installation package to the target disk partition. To avoid a long installation directory, please directly unzip it to the first level directory of the partition, for example, to the D:\EMS directory. The installation source directory of unzipped version is shown in the Figure 2.21.

2. Click to run the installation file install.bat, and the Figure 2.22 pops up. Begin the version installation.

3. To install the Chinese version, input 2; to install English version, input 1. The language selected here should be consistent with that on Figure 2.31, otherwise the user cannot log on to the client.

4. Input the target installation directory of NetNumenN31. And then press the Enter key.

5. Select the Type 2 Client and Server, as shown in the Figure 2.24. And then press the Enter key to unzip the package.

6. It takes a long time to unzip the package, please wait patiently. After all version files are unzipped, the installation program automatically starts the configuration center of NetNumenN31 software.

Subsequent Procedure:

Software configuration: after all version files are unzipped, the installation program automatically starts the configuration center of NetNumenN31 software.

The configuration center can also be started manually, with the startup path shown in the Figure 2.27.

2.3 NetNumen Software Configuration

Purpose

Configure the NetNumen software to make it connect to SQL database, and ensure the network between NetNumen and NEs/client is normal.

Prerequisites

NetNumen software has been installed successfully.

Procedure Description

1. Check the basic configuration:

View the Basic Information in the NetNumen Config Center window, as shown in the Figure 2.31. Select the language in which the NetNumenN31 system is running. The selected language should be consistent with that in software installation in Figure 2.22. Click the Save button.

The right pane shows the NM software version and OS related information.

2. Click NE Module in the NetNumen Config Center window and then select the NE ZXMSG 9000 to be managed by the installed NetNumenN31.

Click Save. The Set Successfully prompting dialog box appears.

3. Click Database Configuration in the NetNumen Config Center window to set the connection parameters of the NetNumenN31 database.

(1) Select MS SQL Server as the Database Type.

(2) Set the logon password of database system administrator sa. By default, the password is netnumen. If the sa password of currently installed SQL Server database is not the default netnumen, please use the existing password. Modify relevant settings of NetNumenN31 according to current sa password of SQL Server via the Configuration Center, as shown in the figure below. Double click the Value column of Database System Administrator Password to modify the sa password of the current SQL Server. For other parameters shown in the Figure 2.34, keep the default settings. Click the Save button.

4. Click Short Cut in the NetNumen Config Center window to enter the Short Cut window.

Click the Save button after the configuration, as shown in the Figure 2.35. Then click the Close button to finish the configuration.

2.4 NetNumen Database Installation

Purpose

Initialize the database and realize the connection with database.

Prerequisites

NetNumen software configuration has been finished.

Procedure Description

1. Check the SQLCMD.exe environment variables: open the windows command line window and execute the command sqlcmd. Observe the execution result.

If the result is as shown in the Figure 2.41, it indicates the environment variables have been loaded and you can start the installation of database.

If the result is as shown in the Figure 2.42, it indicates the environment variables are not loaded and you need to perform the following steps.

Search the SQLCMD.exe file under the SQL Server 2005 installation directory and add its directory to the system environment variable.

2. Start the NetNumen N31 Init Database shortcut, with the path shown in the Figure 2.44.

Click Initialize Database and the window pops up, as shown in the Figure 2.45.

3. Input Y and press the Enter key to begin the initialization of database.

The system prompts Build successful. At this time you can complete the initialization of database by putting any key.

4. Start the NetNumenN31 Config Center and enter the Database Configuration window, as shown in the Figure 2.47.

The test result Connecting database is complete successfully indicates the previous database initialization is successful. The installation of server is finished.

3 NM System Running

3.1 Overview

Firstly start the server software and then client software.

3.2 Startup of Server Software

Purpose

Start the NM server software and verify the correctness of installation.

Prerequisites

The client and server have been installed successfully.

Procedure Description

1. There are two shortcuts NetNumen N31 Server and NetNumen N31 Client on the Windows desktop.

2. Double click the shortcut of NetNumen N31 Server to start the NetNumen unified management system console. In the case of default configuration, the console automatically starts the NetNumen network management process, CORBA notification service process, and FTP process (NetNumen assistant process). After the service processes are started, a green icon appears on the window.

3.3 Startup of Client Software

Purpose

Run the client and manage NEs.

Prerequisites

The installation of NM server software has been completed.

Procedure Description

1. Double click the shortcut of NetNumen N31 client on the desktop and a window pops up, as shown in the Figure 3.3-1.

2. Click the OK button, and the startup is completed. As shown in the Figure 3.32.

4 Installation of NetNumen Client Software on Remote EMS Server

Purpose

Install the NetNumen client on remote EMS server.

Prerequisites

NetNumen server has been installed. The computer on which the client is to be installed has been installed with Windows XP system. The client and local server are in the same network segment or the client can access the local server.

Procedure Description

1. Compress the server installation files ums-clnt, jdk-windows and upgradeN31 into a package as the client program. The file structure is as shown in the figure below.

2. Copy the client program to other computers and then delete the ums-clnt\temp directory.
