The depth of foundation below sub-soil water level shall be measured correct to 0.1 m and 0.5 m or more shall be taken as 0.1 m and less than 0.05 m shall be ignored. In case of varying depth of foundation respective depth shall be multiplied with corresponding quantities of work.3Wherever lime putty is specified in the nomenclature, dry hydrated lime powder shall be provided such lime of standard quantity conforming to IS 712 is available. In such cases, the nomenclature may be suitably modified to provide for dry hydrated lime powder instead of lime putty. This shall comprise vegetable or organic soil, turf, sand, silt, loam, clay, mud, peat, black cotton soil or loose moorum, a mixture of these and similar material which yields to the ordinary application of pick and shovel, rake or other ordinary implement. Carriage of excavated materials beyond the first 50 metres will be paid under "Carriage of materials by lead load". Cariage by animal and mechanical transport will be reckoned in terms of the nearest km.Distances of 0.5 km more will be taken as 1 km and distance of less than 0.5 km ignored. However, when the total lead is less than 0.5 it will not be ignored but paid for seperately in successive stages of 50 metres, subject to the condition that the total worked out on that basis does not exceed the rate for the initial lead of 1 km.
