Call to Worship (Adapted from Psalm 139)
One: O Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you
discern my thoughts from far away. You search out my path and my lying down. Where can I go to flee
from your presence? If I ascend to heaven
All: You are there.
One: If I take the wings of the morning and settle at the farthest limits of the sea,
All: Even there your hand shall lead me and your right hand shall hold me fast.
One: For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb
All: I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made in your image.
*Opening Hymn #459 (BH) “Come, O Fount of Every Blessing”
Children’s Time (Children ages 0-4 years old are welcome in the nursery.)
Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer
(In unison) Our Father, who art in heaven hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our
debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom and the
power and glory forever and ever, Amen.
Anthem “Hymn of Thanksgiving”

*Song of Thanksgiving “Give Thanks” Give thanks with a grateful heart; give thanks to the Holy One;
Give thanks because he’s given Jesus Christ, his Son.
And now let the weak say, “I am strong,” let the poor say, “I am rich,”
Because of what the Lord has done for us. Give thanks.
*Prayer of Thanksgiving
*Sending Forth # 389 (GH) “Let All Things Now Living”
*Benediction *Choral Benediction “Lord, Dismiss Us with Your Blessing”
Lord, dismiss us with Your blessing, Fill our hearts with joy and peace;
Let us each, Your love possessing, Triumph in redeeming grace.
O refresh us, O refresh us, Traveling through this wilderness. Amen.
*Postlude

The cornucopia which graces our altar today is given with praise and thanksgiving to

Congratulations to the following people who were elected at our Congregational meeting last Sunday:
For Deacon: David Blakesley, Bennie Gerner, Bob Hamlett, Lauren Moser and Cheryl Royal. For
Trustee: Freddie Gossett. We thank them for their willingness to serve and look forward to working with
them next year. Do not forget to thank those deacons and trustee who have completed their terms and have
given so much of their time and energy to the mission of this Congregation. Gloria Apple, Dallas Belvin,
Todd Chapmon, Dora Moore and Randy Underwood.
Elizabeth Craft, Consistory President
This announcement is to inform everyone that Tim Hucks has resigned as our Director of Music for
personal reasons. Tim was greatly appreciated and loved by all. We wish him well and sincerely hope
that he will worship with us whenever he can.
ATTENTION: It's that time of year again!! Time to decorate
our church!! We will be decorating on Monday, November
27th. We will start out with an informal dinner in the
breezeway starting at 6:00 p.m. followed by decorating at 6:30. Please plan on attending!! It's always a
wonderful way to start the Christmas season!!
Meals 4 Kids: The next opportunity for volunteering for Meals4kids is Tuesday, November 28th at 6pm.
Safety Measures: Outside doors around the building will be locked between Sunday School and Worship.
Our front doors will remain open. An ad Hoc safety committee has been formed and will be meeting soon.
If you have concerns or ideas about the issue of safety for our community; please contact Todd Chapmon,
Chair of this committee.
Holiday Office Hours: Shirley will be in the office on Tuesday, November 21, for the entire day. This will
be the only day she will be in for the week of Thanksgiving so she will be printing the bulletin on this day.
The church offices will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. There will be no set hours for Friday, the 24th. In
case of an emergency, Pastor Lynne can be reached on her cell phone.
Offering Envelopes: Offering envelopes for 2018 will be available in the next few weeks. If you do not
have envelopes and would like them please contact the church office and Shirley will assign you some.
Poinsettia Fund: Due to the overwhelming success of our change in tradition in 2013, we are not going to
order poinsettias again this year but are going to give you an opportunity to donate money in memory or in
honor of your loved ones. The funds collected and placed in the Poinsettia Fund will be divided between
Urban Ministry and the Meals4Kids Mission. An insert will be placed in the bulletin on Sunday,
December17th, listing the names of the memorials and honorees. Instead of purchasing a poinsettia, we
hope you will donate $10 towards this worthy cause. Please turn in your donations and completed forms
to the office or place in the offering plate by Sunday, December 10th. The form is inserted in the bulletin
this week.
Blessing Bag Ministry: It is that time of year again, when the cold chilly weather hits our area. For the
season, we have added a few items to our wish list for our "Blessing Bag Ministry" request. Handwarmers,
Scarfs, Gloves, Chapstick, Thermos. Please remember when you are out and about, catch them on sell,
etc. These can be dropped off box in the designated bin, located in the Education Building of the church.
Thanks! Mt Hope Youth Program

Collecting Coats “Year Round”! Donate a gently worn coat to help local families in need. Drop off your
coats to: Mt. Hope Church, 2400 Mt. Hope Church Rd., Whitsett, NC 27377. Can you help us give the gift
of warmth to someone in need?
Donation of Clothing for Homeless: In order to streamline the collection of clothing for the homeless, we
need to put a process in place.
1.) Clothing needs to be clean as the homeless do not have access to launder the items.
2.) We only need gently used adult clothing.
3.) Donations will be accepted on the 2nd and 3rd Sunday of each month between 9:30 am and 10:45
am outside the Meals for Kids/Blessing Bag room which is located next to the walk-in freezer in the
old fellowship hall.
4.) A receipt will be given for your donation when the items are dropped off.
We greatly appreciate your donations and help keeping organization in this process. Please call Tammy
Chapmon at 336 516-6072 with any questions. Coats are still accepted in the breezeway in the box labeled
coats. This is a separate project.
