Complete software integration

One method and one sequence list control the complete system: MPS 2, GC and MSD. The GERSTEL® MASter software is completely integrated with the ChemStation software from Agilent Technologies for easy and error free operation.

Modular design, easily upgradeable

Exchangeable MPS 2 syringe modules enable fast change-over between techniques such as Liquid injection, ALEX, Twister, HS, SPME and MASE.

Sample Prep by mouse-click

Sample prep steps are easily selected by mouse-click from a drop down menu: Standard addition, derivatization, dilution, extraction, heating and mixing. Automated sample prep ensures repeatable, just-in-time sample preparation for best results and optimal reproducibility. Microliter syringes are used for liquid handling, helping to reduce solvent usage.

CIS – analyte concentration

The GERSTEL® Cooled Injection System (CIS) enables trapping and concentration of analytes from Large Volume Injections for lower detection limits. This applies to Liquid, Headspace and Thermal Desorption techniques.

On-line sampling or LC/GC coupling

A special fl ow-cell enables on-line sampling of a liquid process streams as well as LC/GC coupling. Samples can be taken automatically from the fl ow-cell as defi ned in the GC method at user defi ned intervals. Samples are injected into the GC for analysis or stored in a vial for later use.

Heated and cooled sample trays

MPS 2 sample trays and agitator can be optionally cooled or heated in order to stabilize or condition samples. Peltier cooled or cryostatically cooled trays cover the temperature range from 4 °C–70 °C. The MPS 2 can hold up to:

– 600 x 1 mL vials– 294 x 2 mL vials– 96 x 10/20 mL vials– 8 x 100 mL vials

The MPS XL handles an additional tray for expanded throughput.

MPS 2XLThe MPS 2XL sampler is extended by 40 cm in length, offering more space for additional sample trays. The MPS 2XL accommodates up to 128 headspace vials for high-througput headspace or SPME analysis. The MPS 2XL can be mounted on any standard GC. Due to its length, the MPS 2XL can even be positioned over two GCs – using one autosampler to inject onto two GCs!

Sample PreparationThe MPS 2 is a fully automated sample prepa-ration robot. Liquid sample preparation steps are performed in a reproducible and control-led manner for best quality results.

Sample Prep steps are easily selected from a menu in the GERSTEL® MASter software and combined with the GC or GC/MSD method. Sample Prep is performed during GC analysis of the preceding sample for best productivity. The following liquid sample prep techniques are fully automated by the MPS 2:

INJECT An aliquot of sample or standard is injected into the GC.

Add an aliquot of liquid from a solvent reservoir to a vial at a specified location.

This command is used to move a vial from location X to location Y.

The sample vial is shaken in the agitator and/or incubated at a set temperature for a specified period of time.

MPS PrepStation (Dual Rail)Dilute, add an internal standard, condition at a predefined temperature, agitate the sample and then use headspace or SPME sample introduc-tion. The dual rail configuration enables the GERSTEL® PrepStation to combine liquid sample preparation with other sample introduction tech-niques. The GERSTEL PrepBuilder software function ensures easy setup

and efficient analysis. Sample prep is per-formed during analy-sis of the preceding sample, ensuring maximum throughput and unsurpassed system utilization. One method and one sequence list operate the complete system from sample prep to data handling – in-cluding the PrepSta-tion, GC and MSD.
