CYS SERVICE SPECIAL OPENING - RESPITE CARE Deployment Respite Care is available for children registered with CYS Services whose parent/sponsor is deployed, on TCS, PCS or TDY (90-179 days) orders or a Service Member of the deployed unit. Sixteen free hours of care is available per month, per child, during the deployment. A copy of the Service Member‘s orders must be provided. The CDC opens twice a month for this service. The normal cost of hourly care is $4.00 per hour will apply; payment must be made in advance. This service may be utilized by other patrons whose children are registered for hourly care. Reservations are required and may be made up to two weeks in advance. Care is available for children 6 weeks - 5th grade. Due to space limitations, paid reservations may be bumped to make room for deployed Service Member‘s reservations. If this should occur, advance payments will be refunded. CYS SERVICES - FRG CHILDCAREFamily Readiness Group (FRG) childcare is a partnering event between CYS Services and Army Community Service (ACS). There is FREE childcare service two nights per month for any FRG member who would like to utilize the service to attend an FRG meeting. To utilize the service your child must be registered with CYS Services and reservations must be made no later than 12:00 pm the week before the date of the opening. Check out Rec Plex’s Corporate Miniature Golf Tournament, a fun and energizing team building opportunity. Now – October 17ESPRIT DE CORPS GUIDON TOURNAMENT Daugherty Bowling Center’s Esprit De Corps Guidon tournament. This is an 8-week, 9-pin no tap/scratch tournament. Winner will hang their Guidon proudly at the Daugherty Bowling Center and win a trophy to display at their Commander’s office. Tournament is from 6:30 pm-9:00 pm. Month of SeptemberEDGE! TOP CHEF JR. MASTERS CYS Services EDGE! Program’s Top Chef Jr. Masters is in session. Youth will work with the 4th MEB Dining Facility staff and have the opportunity to enhance what was learned throughout the Top Chef Jr. and learn more advanced cooking recipes, techniques, and methods. To be eligible to participate in the Top Chef Jr. Masters, participants must be enrolled in Top Chef Jr. Youth in grades 1-5 meet on Tuesday’s and those in grades 6-12 meet on Thursdays from 4:00 pm –6:00 pm at Audie Murphy’s Community Center. Top Chef Jr. Masters will continue in October. Youth must be registered with CYS Services prior to signing up for any EDGE program! For more information call 596-0200.

Month of SeptemberARMY FAMILY TEAM BUILDINGDo you want a better understanding of the Army life? The Army Family Team Building (AFTB) classes will help you to not just cope with, but also understand, military life. With AFTB you will gain the knowledge and self-confidence to take responsibility for yourself and your family while your sponsor is away. It’s training for a way of life that prepares you in America’s Army to function at the highest level. Many of these courses can be applied toward college credits, resume/career building, and self-development. Classes are FREE and open to the public. Classes consist of three levels and you are encouraged to take all three. Child care is available through CYS Services, child must be registered, must make reservations 8 days prior to class. September 1-23MINI BASKETBALL REGISTRATIONCYS Service’s Youth Sports & Fitness is hosting a Mini Basketball program from September 27 – November 3 from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm at the Pippin Youth Center.Children ages 3 yrs. meet on Tuesdays and children ages 4-5 meet on Thursdays. No physical is required. A parent meeting will be held on September 26 at 5:30 pm at the Pippin Youth Center. Cost is $20 per child, includes t-shirt and medal. All mini sports require parent participation. Children must be registered with CYS Services prior to signing up. Youth meets on Mondays, except October 10 from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm at the Rec Plex. Registration deadline is September 28. Cost is $25.Fit EDGE! – Bowling. Youth will learn the basics of bowling. September 1-29GREAT YARD SALE REGISTRATIONNeed to get rid of some items, sell them at Fort Leonard Wood’s Great Yard Saleon October 1 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Daugherty Bowling Center’sparking lot. Cost is $10 advance / $15 day of, includes table and a parking spot. Yard sale is open to the public. The Good Samaritan and post Thrift Shop will be on site to collect donations until 12:00 pm. September 1 – Dec 15GAME CAMERA CONTESTSubmit your best, funniest, most bizarre, or coolest photos of anything you catch on your game camera to the Outdoor Adventure Center. Photos will be entered onto Outdoor Adventure Center’s Facebook for voting. Prizes will be awarded. Send your photos to [email protected]. Photos must be clear and legitimate photo, not taken from online. The Outdoor Adventure Center is located in Bldg. 2290 FLW K Rd. For more information call 596-4223.

September 4CHILD HEALTH DAYTurn off your T.V. and put down your game controllers and head out to Daugherty Bowling Center for Child Health Day! X-treme bowling for children ages 16 yrs and under from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Youth will have an x-tremely fun time bowling with cool lights and awesome sound system. Cost is $5 per child. September 5LABOR DAY GOLFThe Piney Valley Golf Course is hosting a Labor Day Golf Special. Golf with a PVGC member and pay only cart fees, PVGC members will receive a FREE small bucket of balls. Don’t know a PVGC member, bring a friend and purchase two 18-hole green fees and cart for $36. Fees may vary. Piney Valley Golf Course is open to the public from 7:00 am - dusk. September 5 – Oct 72011 ARMY DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY CONTESTEnter your best digital photography to compete against the top photographers in the Army and win cash awards. Contest has two major divisions; one division is open to Active Duty and second division is open to eligible civilians, family members, Retirees, and DA Civilians. There are eight categories:People Military Life Nature and Landscapes Animals Still Life Design Elements Digital Darkroom Monochrome

Deadlines for participant entries are October 7, midnight and images must be submitted through the contest web site https://artscrafts.fmwrc.army.mil. You must login to the contest web site with your AKO username and password. Department of Army judging results will be available in February 2012. Sept 6 – Oct 25SKIES MUSIC & MOVEMENT: SHAKE YOUR TAIL FEATHERSThe SKIES Program’s Music & Movement class begins. This session’s theme is “Shake Your Tail Feathers”. Music & Movement is a creative movement class, where children will learn the concept of music, melody, rhythmic, respond to music appropriately and creatively, and develop tonality. Parents will also learn different techniques to apply to everyday activities at home and on the go. Parent participation is required. September 6HIRED! PARENT AND YOUTH ORIENTATIONThe Child, Youth & School Services HIRED program is hosting a mandatory Parent and Youth Orientation for those signed up for term 5 HIRED program. September 6DRAWING: THE CREATIVE EXPERIENCE GROW!Continue to explore your creative side at the Frame Shop’s drawing class. Class is from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Audie Murphy’s Community Center. Learn some basic principles of art and some easy techniques that will help you get started drawing. Cost is $5 per person, includes materials. September 7 & 21SKIES ZUMBA FOR TEENS AND CHILDRENTeens and children will have fun working out with the CYS Services SKIES program’s Zumba class while learning about the rhythmic dance exercise. Cost is $18 per child, per month (2 classes per month). Youth ages 11-18 yrs meet from 4:00 pm – 4:55 pm and children ages 4-10 yrs meet from 5:15 pm – 6:10 pm. September 7 – 8HUNTER’S EDUCATIONThe Outdoor Adventure Center in partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation will host a Hunter’s Education class from 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Course will allow you to comply with Missouri hunter education law and make students more knowledgeable and safer hunters. Students must be at least 11 yrs. old to participate. September 1510th ANNUAL BIG BUCK CONTESTThe Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting their 10th Annual Big Buck contest. Hunters may enter multiple categories: Archery and gun (youth & adult). Hunt location is within the Fort Leonard Wood boundaries. All Missouri and Fort Leonard Wood regulations apply and must be observed at all time. Hunters must pre-register at the Outdoor Adventure Center prior to the start of each portion of the fall hunting season. The Outdoor Adventure Center is located in Bldg. 2290 off FLW K Road. September 17LORA BASS TOURNAMENTThe Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area (LORA) is hosting their annual Bass Tournament beginning at 7:00 am (or first safelight). Weigh-in is at 3:00 pm. Child Care at DFCFamily & MWR knows your family comes first and that shouldn't mean your fitness has to come last. Davidson Fitness Center is offering a place for your child(ren) to play while you achieve your fitness goals. An "Insight Child Care Area" is available Mon-Fri 8:00 am-11:00 am. No attendant will be onsite - child MUST be in the parent/guardian's line of sight at all times.

Equipment OrientationLearn how to properly use the cardio and strength equipment. A free 30-minute equipment orientation will be held at the Davidson Fitness Center and Specker Gym on Mondays at 9:00 am and Thursdays at 6:00 pm.

Aerobic ClassesA variety of aerobic classes are offered monthly at various times to fit your fitness level and your busy schedule. Aerobic passes are available, cost $15-10 punch, $25-20 punch, and $30-30 punch. Aerobic schedule is available online at www.fortleonardwoodmwr.com.
