TAHRIR TOWER

The concept begins with the relation between the revolution and the structure , in other words the dynamic of revolution , and the static of the building. So this building took the monumental massive structure style to memorize the revolution that took place in this area , in an architectural way .The difference of level represents the ups and downs of the revolution while the missing parts of the building give us the idea that our revolution is not yet « perfect « and it still missing some parts .The orientation and the site of the building defines the floor plans shapes that already oriented to the main street of the Egyptian Museum

Structure System:In order to achieve the project, a grid of 10 meters was used. The square coloumns were 1m X 1m starting from the -4th level to the 97th,while the core walls were 0.5m width

GUC LIBRARY

The Library was designed to be a reflection

of the GUC technical revolution. the continues

building to include all the library functions

designed according the global location of the site

and to create indirect shading most of the day.

GUC CAMPUS

Current Situation :

• Buildings already have high percentage of glass that can be replaced with photovolatic winows and adding more solar panels on the roof and the facades to reduce the amount of energy consumed

• Campus already have large green areas, so we can existing plants with productive and native plants.

• Empty spaces in the campus can be used to adopt waste recycle industries.

Green Areas Meeting Areas Sports Areas

Educational Commercial Adminstrative Industrial

Unkown TheatreSustainable Approaches :

Outside the campus :

• Interact with the surrounding neigbhourhoods according to their needs.

• Creating Cultural centre , University market , Geological Centre and Club house that serves the neighbourhoods.

Inside the campus :

• Generating Main axis defining the campus zones.

• Less Cars in the campus with more pedestrian paths.

• Connecting the campus buildings with landscape elements.

• Creating a main node that includes library and adminstration.

THE UNIT

The concept of this residential building is providing the ability of different areas for housing according to the

different needs ( Small studios for one or two persons ) - ( Medium apartments for small families ) - ( Big apartments

for bigger families ), in the same way it still approach the main concept of privacy ,comfortable accommodation

with the respect to the orientation of the building and visual relationship between all the surroundings.

INTERBAU HOUSINGWhy going outside, when you have everything you need inside

The term vertical district means in this design project , how to transform the horizontal urbanization of district that consist of mixed use functions with the green areas and even the apartments, under one roof in a vertical leveling combinations. So it saves much space, creating more possibilities of social interactions and be a module that would spread out in similar communities. The Main Purpose and concept of the building is: affordability that you have all your needs in one closed unit; however the area or the number of rooms you want to have, the building can afford that. The remarkable statue or sculpture are The V pillars lifting the building , which was inspired by Hansaviertel Interbau Apartment House by Oscar Niemeyer.

The Building facades are a reflection to the surroundings with a taste of traditional Egyptian elements, to introduce a

modern functional façades in addition to interact with the surrounding environment.

The Facades consist of 3 elements; the building structure + the second layer + the shading elements.

The building structure material which is the concrete is cladded with a light paint to reflect the heat instead of absorb it,

and the second layer is the GRC material, covering the building like several ribbons to work as a massive wall reducing

the thermal bridge and filled inside with a thermal insulation material.

39

The Shading element has a modern style of mashrabya that indirects sunlight and giving some privacy for

the residents, divided into two elements: Fixed ( Balaconies ) and flexible ones ( The shading windows ).

The Colors of the building were chosen to be light colors and in the

same way have almost the same colors of the surroundings ( Sand,

rocks and trees ).

These elements combined with each other to have facades that are

functional, thermal treated and traditional in a modern way

Interests

Photography has always been my obsession since i was a little kid and it was one of the main reasons i started to give attention to the details of architecture.

I started professional photography at 2010 using a semi-professional camera and established a freelance career in Egypt and Qatar.

I was awarded the 1st prize at the photography competition that was held by “35 mm club“ @ German University In cairo on 2012.

“What i like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.” Karl Lagerfeld

I would end my words with “A picture is a secret about a secret, the more it tells you the less you know” For the whole albums u can visit:www.facebook.com/Ahmed.Nagy.Photography

The 2nd special feature which is semi-private

is the community level in the 1st floor, that’s

divded into two parts that it has an access to the

exterior area which is a green space to create

an urban softscape areas for seating and having

a feeling of freedom

The 1st special feature is the pedestrian

route network connected from a side with

neighbors buildings and from the other side

to a secondary street .The network is facing a

wide seating area open to the main street and

surrounded restaurants, cafes and shops
