Over 10,000 years ago a young talented wizard by the name of Abibaal from Canaan became a hero of

his people defending them from supernatural beings. In time the dark supernatural forces were proving

too many for him to deal with alone. Using his arcane talents he contacted the gods and asked for help.

They explained they had a non-intervention policy regarding mortals and would not directly intervene.

They did however offer their indirect help and worked with Abibaal in creating a spell that would bestow

onto Abibaal a portion of their power. The name of the spell would be called

S(Shamayim)H(Hadad)A(Anat)Z(Zeke)A(Attar)M(Molech). By saying this word the young wizard would

transform into the world's first champion of magic, the first Shazam. For thousands of years Abibaal

would protect his people and soon the world from the supernatural forces of darkness as Shazam.

In time Shazam sensed that the veil that separates the realms of the supernatural and the realm of

mortals was becoming weakened. His battles against the invading beings would seemingly be fruitless if

the veil that separates his world from their realms would collapse. He reasoned that he needed to find a

successor to be the new champion of magic on earth while he created a way to guard the veil. Searching

for centuries he finally found who he believed was worthy to carry on the mantle of Shazam, a young

Egyptian prince named Teth Adam. Adam was a compassionate honorable man that only desired to

protect his people. Abibaal approached Adam and offered him the mantle of Shazam of which Adam

accepted graciously. Abibaal contacted the gods of Adams people and created a spell like the one he

created for himself,S(Shu)H(Heru)A(Amon)Z(Zehuti)A(Aton)M(Mehen). Adam shouted out the spell

SHAZAM and became the new Shazam. Abibaal explained to Adam that in order to create a barrier that

would protect the veil Abibaal would have to leave his corporeal state behind. With a spell Abibaal

destroyed his physical body and became ethereal. Abibaal found that his power was vastly greater in

this form as he no longer is channeling celestial power through a mortal shell. He immediately went to

work and created a barrier that he called The Rock of Eternity. There he would exist and guard the veil

for all eternity, ensuring that the veil would never collapse.

For thousands of years Adam protected the world as Shazam under the watchful eyes of Abibaal. The

power that Adam possessed was beginning to corrupt him and his heart was beginning to be filled with

pride as he wondered why he was serving these mortals and felt that they should be worshipping him as

a god. Abibaal sensed the change within Adam and summoned him to the Rock of Eternity. Standing

before Abibaals throne, Adam proclaimed are these mortals whom I am to protect? Why because they

are weak? When you crush an ant beneath your feet do you feel remorse? No, is this because you are

evil or is it because you recognize yourself as a higher form of life. If I have the powers of the gods than

am I not a god myself? It was then that Abibaal knew that Adam was now a danger to mortals and a

threat to everything he has fought for. Realizing that the SHAZAM spell is irreversible and he cant strip

Adam of the powers he possesses as Shazam, he denounced Adam and stripped him of his name calling

him Black Adam and he used his authority as the custodian of the Rock of Eternity to banish Adam from

the mortal realm. It would be many thousands of years before Abibaal would seek out another

successor to the mantle of Shazam. He eventually found what he was looking for in the heart of a boy

    named Billy Batson.
