Analyzing Existing Products
I think this is a perfect product for people with different disabilities. It can also improve children skills, like open-minded, inquirers, among other. They can develop the skills while making the product. This product will be for people from all ages.

I think this is a perfect product for students from kinder garden to faculty, because the students carry their backpacks every time even if it is raining. And it will be a good idea because we always have to carry an umbrella because if we don´t do this, we get wet.
It's a good product because I think is something easy to make and in my opinion it's also something innovative.

This product is something that catches my attention in the movement I see it. Because it's something "curious" that is a chair has determinate spaces to put books or notebooks. I think this sofa will fit perfectly specially in a library. I think it's also for people from all ages.

In my opinion, this an innovative product because it is like a portable stairs that doesn't need a lot of space and it's a good idea. It is simple but it can help you. But a disadvantage is that the stars can be dangerous because of the "structure".
This product will be more for adults than anyone else because kids can fall down, or teenagers can make a wrong use.

Justify Need
Hi! my name is Lizeth Vidal, I'm in 9th grade in the Instituto Anglo Britanico. In my design classes, my teacher is explaining us a lot of things. One of them, is the Innovative Fair. We have one of this 1 time per year, and it is about to make that the students create or improve a product to solve a problem for the community. This year, we have the option to relate the Fair with Chemistry; and I think this is a good idea because it's something we haven't do and in this way there will be more variety of products for this year.
A very common problem in I note in the community are the people with different disabilities. And this is a serious problem because I have seen that people discriminate them or make them feel "useless". But you have to think how would you feel if you would be treated as people treated them. The mentality of people nowadays is that people with disabilities can't do certain things, but as we can do something, they can do it.
This problem is happening not only here in Mexico, but ALL AROUND THE WORLD. According to an investigation I made, I found that in 2011 about 38% of the population in Mexico were people with disabilities, and In United States 42% of the population were also people with disabilities. And 12% of these persons had a lot of obstacles to move from one place to another. And this problem is happening RIGHT NOW and also long time ago.
Three cause of this problem is that first of all, when you ask to one person what´s the first word they think about when you say disability, is probably people that can be useless or people that are sick of different illness. Another cause, is that parents don't get used their children to respect this people and treat them as a normal person. And the last cause is that all the community has a bad idea of the people with disabilities are or what can they do.
And how I already said, this problem is occurring because maybe people doesn't know a person with a disability and they can't really see what they are capable to do. Something that some school are making wrong, is that they doesn't accept people with disability; but I think is not because they discriminate them, I think it's just because they are not prepared with the institute, they can make some ramps for people in wheelchairs, or another thing to help them.

Identify and Prioritize Research
There are some institutions and important people that had the initiative to help people with different disabilities, not only in Mexico but all around the world. An example of a popular institution in Mexico, is Teleton. Teleton is a Mexican institution that is located in different places from Mexico, for example is Mexico DF, Estado de Mexico, etc... Another institute that helps people with disabilities, is the "Fundación de John Langdon Down A.C.". This people helps persons with down syndrome. It is in Coyoacán and in Mexico DF. The "National Organization on Disability" is another example of an American institution that helps this people.

Present the Final Chosen Design
For this Innovation Fair, we made the teams, and the members of it are: Rosa Lidia, Ilsse Valeria, Analía Espericueta, and me. Each of us, had to investigate about the community problems and have to search a product to solve it. In my case, I decided to create like a walker made up of a tubes that were going to be recycled, I really think this is a really good idea, because with this product, we wouldn't only be helping to people with disabilities, but we would also be helping the environment by using the tubes.
On the other hand, my team member Rosy, decided to create an special table for the offices or for technology classes, her idea of the table function was to put in the middle of it some plants to reduce the high level of technology used on the classroom or in the case of the offices, in the building. I think this is a good idea too because she is solving a really big problem all around the world.
My partner Analía decided to create a product that is more related to the kitchen, Her idea was to create like a special "case" to keep the knifes safe in a special place of the kitchen. I think this isn't a creative idea because first of all it will be hard to create it and also because I think it's something so simple for an Innovation Fair. My partner Luis had a really good idea! He wanted to create a phone case that works with a solar panel, and I think it´s a really good idea because he would be helping the environment and also to the community.
But at the end, we decided to make a different product from all the products that we showed to each other because we thought that some of them were like hard to create or even useless products for the technology Fair. The product that we decided is a lamp that will be makeup of CD's, solar panels, photocells and the spotlight of the lamp will be of LED. With his idea we are not only helping the community to light up in a special place, we are helping the environment because of the materials we will use to create the lamp. This lamp will be for all people and for all ages!

Construct a Logical Plan
Material List
- CD’s
- 2 circle wood $40 pesos
- 3 LED strips (the color you want) $10 pesos each one
- A switch $10 pesos
- Photocell $480
- Tools:
Drill
Hacksaw
Knife
Pencil
Measure tape
Milling machine
TOTAL cost: $600
PRODUCT’S COST: $750
Procedure
1. To build the wooden bases in a circle will use our router (Remember that our bases must have a diameter greater than the diameter of a cd)
2. A 1 base must have a hole in the center, of the same diameter as the hole having the CDs in the center (it is important that this circle is firmly centered)
3. ake a cd measure and mark the outline of the sticks on each bank iran
4. One of our bases has to have a larger hole in the center, so that when assembling our lamp is a hollow space so that it is for our circuit and this will in said recess. Also add the photocell and connect the Leds to the photocell.
5. After all our parts we painted the color you like
6. After taking all parties to conform our wooden structure, the following will be the circuit is very simple not need to be an expert in electronics to do, just knowing welding
7. Now we will place our circuit in the wooden base so that our switches remain more or less so
8. After doing this is just a matter of assembling our lamp, remember we have our 2 lower bases stuck with the circuit inside, insert the following is our base which has the hole in the center with the 4 holes.
9. Now we finish our product!
Facts
The current flows through the cable: the red positive and black negative. In the switch what we do is that we cut the voltage - when you turn on the switch, stops passing the energy by the black wire, and in the event that we turn off, the switch stops passing energy. The solar panel produces 3 volts some leds that produce 1.5 leds each one and when connected to the solar panel, put them in parallel since all going to consume the same energy of the 3 volts.
There are direct current and that is why we use a red and black wire, because there is a + and -. Alternating current, solar panels convert the ultraviolet rays to direct current.
The life span of an LED is 40,000 hours. That means you can last up to about 20 years.
leds are mechanisms that do not have air and the normal ones do have and consume a lot of energy.
leds are not heated, therefore, the cds will not melt
Demonstrate Technical Skills
Ilustración 2 These were all the materials that we used to create the lamp
Ilustración 1 We used this tools to check the voltage of the LED's
Ilustración 3 In this image you can see how we are pasting the bases of the lamp
Ilustración 4 we made a hole in the middle for the cds
Ilustración 6 hereIn this image we are pasting all the CD's together and we are putting them in the hole

Justify Changes made to the Design
During the creation of pur lamp, we had some trouble to arrange all the things as we planned in the diagram. One thing we changed, is the amount of the CD's we used. Another thing we changed, is the height of the lamp. We also putted the photo cell OUTSIDE the lamp and we were planning to putted INSIDE of the lamp. These changes we only made them to present the product to the judges.
When we finished the lamp, we started to think that in the auditorium there will be a lot of light and the light of the lamp wouldn't bright that much. So we started to think how we could solve that. And we decided to paint a box of black so that the lamp can bright more inside of the box and the judges could appreciate how the lamp bright. We cut a part of the box so that the judges can see how it bright without open the box.
Ilustración 8 now we just pasted the top base to the lamp
Ilustración 9 THIS IS HOW OUR PRODUCT LOOKS FINISHED
Design Testing Methods
Evaluating the Success of the Product
When we finally finished the prduct, we made a survey to some adults, some of our classmates and also to some of our teacher, and according to their answers, almost all of thalf of the percentage had a positive answers. So in my opinion, I think they really liked the idea of our product and the product in general. I also think we really achieved the goal of the Innovation Fair because we solved a problem in the community that is not only help the environment, but also to help.
In my opinion, our product is not perfect at all. My classmates of the team and I, could improve some thing in the lamp. For example, we could've add a battery to the lamp so that the photo cell transmit the energy to the battery and some of the enerfy can be saved in the battery and light at anytime without the need of the sun.
