• Participation in GMS Countries.- Two national Workshops were held in Myanmar during 2004 and 2005.

• Out of 29 strategic projects, only 21 projects are to be cooperated with other GMS countries.

Tourism Plans and Strategies for the Next Five Years

• Prepared 30 year plan(2001 – 2002 to 2030 – 2031 )

• 2006 – 2007 initial year of 2nd five year plan

• To upgrade development of tourist products and promote marketing activities

• To enhance and promote development of human resources in tourism industry

• To support and promote active participation and investment of private sector

•To facilitate traveling more convenient and comfortable•To prepare and draw up short-term and long-term plans in cooperation with international tourism experts

•To promote more charter flights and attract scheduled flights from long haul markets(Europe, America, Japan, Korea)

•To make joint promotions with ASEAN, GMS, ACMECS, BIMSTEC•To step up promotional activities for more tourists arrivals through border gateways•To upgrade the standard of hotels and level of service through training of personnel.

•To promote foreign direct investment by inviting investors from abroad•To raise awareness of Myanmar as a unique and one of the safest tourist destinations in Asia
