Fresh lobsters arrived straight from Maine and they didn't disappoint. No, Bruce Bastian didn’t have to go that far to pick them up, just to the Englewood connection! An attractive and bounteous meal, from shrimp cocktail, Chowda, the full platter of corn, potatoes, and all the trimmings accompanied the lobster, then ended with Key Lime Pie for a touch of Florda. The kitchen staff was superb. Chef, sous chefs and waitstaff, par excellence. Thank you to all who made this a wonderful, successful event. They were: Justin Terzi in the Kitchen with helpers Ben Petrone, Howie Van Nostrand, Leanne Rodick, and Grace Robbio. Donna Sherman coordinated the waitstaff serving the guests: Dixie Clark, Viola Giancola, Julia Griffith, Mary Indovino and Betty Lou Cattelona. These 11 people did a most outstanding job. The meal was hot and well prepared, we didn’t hear one complaint, only kudos. Tom Martorana handled the successful raffle sales. Karl Bicknese helped set up the bar, then drove the Mentalist to the Club and then spent the afternoon bussing! Barbara Terzi didn’t stop. She helped me with final figures, as well as planned the seating and sold most of the tick- ets. Lou Sclafani and Barbara Moccia were Maitre D's who greeted and seated our guests. Barb also helped in the ticket sales. Linda Bastian is the creative energy whose theme transformed our Club dining room into a Maine Lobster Shack on Casco Bay! To all of the above, I may have done the planning BUT your excellent execution made the affair a success. Thanks one and all, Dick. If you want to join us next time mark your calendar.. Cocktails at 3, 1st course at 3:45.....August 16, 2014 .... Be There! Note: A huge MILLE GRAZIE to Dick Cattelona for chairing this most popular event. It takes hours of planning & organizing which was much appreciated by all who attended. We’ll see you again next year ! Summertime & the living is easy...so the refrain goes! Besides being easy, it has been a busy one. We have had great attendance at the monthly Birthday Celebrations where everyone enjoys the food, fun & friends. It has become a terrific way for our members to feel more connected & then become involved in the Club activities. As I always say “Involvement equals enjoyment”. The Lobster Fest was a smashing success this summer once again, thanks to Dick Cattelona for quarterbacking that event for the 3rd time! He wants to do it next year too! We are now preparing for the Pig Roast, also the 3rd one with Justin Terzi at the helm. Can’t wait to smell the aroma during the roasting process! The inception of the Monday Morning Coffee has been very well received & works well with the Bocce players, who consume bagels before bocce. See you at the club.
