LOBSTER FEST : Report by Dick Cattelona

Saturday, August 16, 180 guests, both members and non-members

enjoyed the 4th Annual Lobster Fest at the IAC of Venice. The perfectly

co-ordinated kitchen and Waitstaff treated the guests to a First Class

production. The Kitchen Staff consisted of Justin Terzi, Ben Petrone,

Marino Roncari, Howie VanNostrand, Lulu Rodick, and Grace Robbio.

Donna Sherman handled the large responsibility of the delivery of the

meal, help included Mary Indovino, Julia Griffith, Sandy Vecchione,

Lynn Fontana, Vi Giancola and Betty Lou Cattelona. Several others

had supporting roles and were invaluable: Barbara Terzi, Judy and Con-

rado Perky, Barbara Moccia, Linda and Bruce Bastian, Tom Martorana,

Karl Bicknese, and Lou Scafani. The tasteful decorating by Judy,

Conrado and Barbara, turned your Club into a typical New England

Lobster Shanty for a day. Stay tuned, maybe we’ll do it next year!

The dynamics of this office seems to have a way of derailing plans. Originally,

last month’s message lead to September by outlining the events of the first

half of 2014. One would conclude this segment should be giving preview of what’s in store. Not so fast, this past Sunday’s

Birthday celebration gave me thought about those who toil mightily, in obscurity. The members, who we so often take for

granted. In the sport’s world, they call them “the unsung hero”. The guy or gal who doesn’t say why, but instead…. ok!

The guy or gal who doesn’t look for a pat on the back and doesn’t sulk when they don’t get one. We have real players in

our club …who are gratified with thanks. They don’t need headlines…thanks, fills their cup. We have players we can

depend upon. If they say they’ll be there Friday, they will. Yes, we are volunteers but, we still have responsibilities. The

“un-sung hero” knows there are people they don’t want to let down. They are team players……. Ciao, Dick C.
