FOR FAMILY PHYSICIANSThe Ontario Ministry of Health has allocated funds to McMaster University to provide a Palliative Care Educational Program for Family Physicians which will:• Enhance skills and knowledge in maximizing the

quality of life of palliative care recipients;• Recognize the primacy of care recipients and their

families; and• Facilitate and mobilize the development of

community support networksPhysicians from Hamilton-Wentworth, Brant County,Halton-Peel, Mississauga, Waterloo, Wellington, Dufferin, Haldimond-Norfolk, and Niagara Regions who are interested in participating, may qualify for funding for:1. The registration fee for the Five Days in Palliative

Care Program2. The registration fee for a week long practicum with

the Palliative Care Team at a Hamilton Hospital3. There are also some funds available for participating

physicians who may require practice replacement costsPlease contact Diane Gauthier for more information at [email protected] outside of the above stated areas are welcome to attend the program and should apply to their local Long Term Care Office for funding.

FORMATCombination of lectures and small group workshops in an informal, comfortable, retreat like setting. Present-ers and resource leaders will include specialists in Palliative Care, Ethics, Law, Social Work, Theology, Oncology & others.
