Sangeet Pratibha

Sangeet Pratibha is a festival of music focusing on young talent in

the field. It is presented by Sangeet Natak Akademi, as part of a

well-established programme to bring to audiences the work of a

new generation of artists all over India and thus help young artists

to find a foothold on the national platform. The Pratibha

programme is not limited to music; over the last two decades,

festival of dance and theatre featuring young artists has also been

held as part of the series in various parts of the country. Many of the

artists featured in these festival have subsequently established

themselves in their own fields, be it music, dance, or drama.

Sangeet Pratibha is designed to bring forth some of the best talents

of the northern region of the country endowed with rich heritage

of Hindustani vocal music. The festival will also present Hindustani

and Carnatic practitioners of instrumental music, Sarod, Sitar,

Violin, Flute, Sarangi, Rabab, Ghatam, Khanjira, Morsing and Tabla

from various parts of the region.

The Sangeet Natak Akademi is thankful to the Sangeet Kala

Akademi and Yug Manch, Nainital for their support and hopes that

the Sangeet Pratibha will receive enthusiastic response from the

rasikas of the city of Nainital.

Sangeet Pratibha

Sangeet Pratibha is a festival of music focusing on young talent in

the field. It is presented by Sangeet Natak Akademi, as part of a

Arnab Chatterjee

Born in the family of musicians, Smit Tiwari has initiated into Sarod from his

father Shri Chandra Shekhar Tiwari. He is the recipient of the national

scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. He has

participated and proved his competence in various music competitions

including the First Prize by Sangeet Natak Academy, Lucknow. In recognition

of his excellence in the field, he has received many prizes and honors. He has

performed widely and given numerous performances in India.

Arnab Chatterjee has received his initial training in Hindustani music from his

mother Smt. Anusuya Chatterjee and later learnt from Smt. Ranjita Mukherjee.

Further, he honed his style of Dagarbani under the able guidance of Ustad

Rahim Fahimuddin Dagar. He is the recipient of the National Scholarship of

Ministry of Culture, Government of India. A graded artist of All India Radio, he

has performed widely in various music festivals in India. He has a number of

awards to his credit including the 'Nirodbaran Smriti Puraskar', 'the Acharya

Uday Bhusan Smriti Puraskar' and the 'Bani Basu Smriti Puraskar' of Rabindra

Bharati University, Kolkata. He is pursuing Ph.D on the subject of 'Dhrupad and

Bengali Padavali Kirtan Music' from the faculty of Music & Fine Arts, University

of Delhi.

Jaya Bhaskar received his training in Mridangam from Shri Yella Venkateswara

Rao, an eminent guru and musicians. A graded artist of All India Radio &

Doordarshan, he has been a member of the National Orchestra, Vadyavrinda of

AIR. A recipient of senior scholarship of Ministry of Culture, Government of

Peravali Jaya Bhaskar

number of concerts in India. Presently he is working as a Staff Artist with the

All India Radio, New Delhi.

Ramamurthy received his initial training in Ghatam from Shri Dandapani and

later received advanced training under the tutelage of Shri K.M. Vaidyanathan.

Nawab Ali

A graded artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan, he has given many solo

recitals as well as accompanied many artistes in various music festivals in India

and abroad.

Born in the family of musicians, Vetri Bhoopathy received his initial training in

Khanjira from his father and guru Shri Prem Kumar. Presently he is receiving

advanced training from Shri Karaikudi R. Mani, an eminent guru and musician.

A graded artist with All India Radio and Doordarshan, he has performed in

various prestigious music festivals in India and abroad. Presently, he is a staff

artist of the National School of Drama.

Bejjanki Ravi received his initial training in Morsing from his father Shri Bejjanki

Krishna and later learnt under the tutelage of Shri Jaya Bhaskar. Presently, he is

receiving advanced training in Morsing and Mridangam from Shri Dandapani.

He has performed in various prestigious music festivals in India.

V.S.K. Annadurai received his training in Violin from Shri T.K. Krishnamurthy

Pillai. A graded artist with All India Radio and Doordarshan, he has performed in

various prestigious music festivals in India and abroad. Presently, he is

associated with Faculty of Music and Fine Arts, University of Delhi, Delhi

Utsav, Nainital and in Srilanka, Japan, Turkey and Europe. He has received many

awards from various prestigious institutions including the National Award by

Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, Jharkhand, the Ustad Mustaq Ali

Khan award from, Delhi and the Pandit V.G. Jog Memorial Award from

University of Delhi, Delhi.

the country. He has received many awards such as the National Talent Award

by Government of India, the Surmani by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai and the

Uttrakhand Ratna by All India Conference of

Intellectuals, Uttrakhand.

Raj Kumar Bharti: Violin

Born in a family of musicians, Hari Dutt

received his initial training in flute from his

he has performed widely and given

numerous performances throughout India

including the Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan,

Jamshedpur, Hyderabad, Bilaspur, and

Patna. He has also participated in All India

Radio Sangeet Sammelan, and represented

the Indian youth delegation in China

organised by the Government of India.

eminent guru of Gwalior gharana. A

doctorate in music, he is a recipient of

National Scholarship of the Ministry of

Affairs, Assam. He has performed in various

prestigious music festivals in India and

abroad including the Hafiz Ali Khan festival,

Gwalior; Tansen Samaroha, Gwalior; Kal Ke Kalakar Sammelan, Mumbai; and

Indian Conference on Indian Music at Mauritius. He has received awards from

various prestigious organizations, and has many recordings to his credit.

Singh learnt Sarangi from his father Shri

Shaminder Pal Singh. A graded artist with All

India Radio, he has performed in many

prestigious music festivals including the

Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan, Jallandhar;

the Swami Haridas Sangeet Sammelan,

Mumbai; the Nana Panse Sangeet Mahotsav,

Madhya Pradesh, and the Ustad Allah Rakha

Sangeet Sammelan in Patiala.

Jasmeet Kaur received her initial training

Kaur Kirti and later from Shri P.N. Raina

training in music under the able guidance

of Shri Rajan and Sajan Mishra, eminent

gurus and musicians. She has performed

in many prestigious music festivals in

India. She has been awarded the title of

‘Surmani’ by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai.

She has many recordings to her credit.

recipient of a national scholarship

of the Centre for Cultural

Resource and Training and the

D e p a r t m e n t o f C u l t u r e ,

Government of India. A graded

Jasmeet Kaur received her initial training

in Hindustani music from Smt. Sudershan

Kaur Kirti and later from Shri P.N. Raina

and Shri Hanuman Prasad Mishra.

Presently, she is receiving advanced

training in music under the able guidance

of Shri Rajan and Sajan Mishra, eminent

gurus and musicians. She has performed

in many prestigious music festivals in

India. She has been awarded the title of

‘Surmani’ by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai.

She has many recordings to her credit.

Born in a family of musicians,

Pranat Kumar Joshi received his

initial training in Tabla from his

father Shri Leela Dhar Joshi and

later received advanced training

in Tabla from Shri Nisar Hussain

Khan of Ajrada gharana. He is the

recipient of a national scholarship

of the Centre for Cultural

Resource and Training and the

D e p a r t m e n t o f C u l t u r e ,

Government of India. A graded

artist with All India Radio, he has

performed in many prestigious music festivals including the Swami Haridas

Sangeet Sammelan, Mumbai, the Thumri Mahotsava, Gaya and the Harballabh

Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai.

Born in a family of musicians, Madhuresh

Bhatt received his initial training in Tabla

from his father Shri Surendra Bhatt and

later learnt the art under the tutelage of

Shri Sharda Sahai of Benaras gharana. An

approved artist with All India Radio and

Doordarshan, he has performed widely in

India and abroad. He has given many solo

recitals as well as accompanied many

artistes in various music festivals.

Born in a family of musicians, Avirbhav

Verma received his initial training in

Tabla from his grandfather Shri

Lachman Singh Seen of Punjab gharana

and later from his father Shri Pawan

Kumar Verma. A graded artist with All

India Radio, he has represented India at

the III Delphic Games 2009 Jeju,

Republic of Korea. He has performed in

various music festivals in India and

abroad. He has received the title of

‘Talmani’ from the Sur Singar Samsad,
