BRIEF PROGRAM DESCRIPTION/GOALS:The Associate of Science in Natural Sciences (AS-NS) degree is designed for students planning to transfer to a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) baccalaureate degree program at a four-year institution in Hawai‘i or on the U.S. mainland.

DEGREES THAT CAN BE EARNED:Associates in Science (AS)

WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT THE PROGRAM:• Hands-on and experiential approach that prepare students to transfer to 4-year universities in STEM pathways.• Students can choose between two concentrations in either biological sciences and physical science.• Honolulu CC conducts research for the Hawai'i NASA Space Grant.• The college is home to an Agri-Farm Shade House that is a hands-on training facility and was funded by the USDA - National Institute of Food and Agriculture funds.

ITEMIZED ESTIMATE OF EDUCATIONAL COSTS:• Tuition plus cost of books • The cost of textbooks and supplies is approximately $300 per semester for full-time students.
