Taking up the debates on the problems of water, water use and water resources in Colombia and beyond, the workshop focuses on the broader topic of techno-capitalist milieus against the background of the ›Anthropocene‹, with the quotation marks pointing to a distance that critically questions the narrative of the ›era of the man‹.  On the basis of selected readings from the elds of philosophy, science and technology studies as well as sociology and environmental studies we want to scrutinize both the process of the on-going dissolution of the dichotomy between nature and culture / technology and its consequences with regard to our life forms and modes of knowledge and, on this basis, develop new theories, models and approaches that eectively tackle the current problems inhering in the techno-capitalist formation of the nature-culture / technology-complex.  In addition to joint discussions and practical exercises the schedule includes eld trips in and outside of Berlin, lm screenings, papers and presentations from artist, curators and experts from the eld of environmental studies. NATURE, CULTURE AND TECHNOLOGY IN THE ›ANTHROPOCENE‹

A cooperation between the Cluster of Excellence Image Knowledge Gestaltung and the Facoltà de Artes, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, represented by Edith Gonzalez Afanador, Nelson Vergara and Mercedes Castillo, organized by Rebekka Ladewig and Angelika Seppi.

On the basis of selected readings from the fields of philosophy, science and technology studies as well as sociology and environmental studies we want to scrutinize both the process of the on-going dissolution of the dichotomy between nature and culture/technology and its consequences with regard to our life forms and modes of knowledge and, on this basis, develop new theories, models and approaches that effectively tackle the current problems inhering in the techno-capitalist formation of the nature-culture/technology-complex. In addition to joint discussions and practical exercises the schedule includes field trips in and outside of Berlin, film screenings, papers and presentations from artist, curators and experts from the field of environmental studies. You are very welcome to join the afternoon sessions on July 20, 21, 22, and 28! We are also happy to receive your registration for the text-based sessions until July 13! The text will be provided.
